Taylor County Obits
June 1904

The Butler Herald
IN MEMORIAM
It is with the deepest sense of sadness that we announce the death of Mrs. Henry Burnett, which sad event took place at her home June 27, 1904, at 10  o'clock in the morning and was buried at Prosperity church on the 28th at 10 o'clock. Mrs. Burnett was sick four weeks and bore her illness with patience; her husband was so kind and also her mother-in-law, Mrs. M.J. Burnett, that she did not like for any attention. Mrs. Harmon and Mrs. Alston and all her friends were kind to her. She leaves a husband and four little children and a host of friends and relatives to mourn her loss. Mrs. Burnett was not united with any church but her noble hearts desire was to unite with the Primitive Baptist church,  She devoted a great deal of time to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and said she was ready and not afraid to die. All we have to do is to prepare to meet her in heaven. Dr. Childs, of Garden Valley, was her physician and he did all that lay in his power to do for her, but when the Lord calls we must obey. Dr. Childs has the praise for the good attention he gives patients. On Thursday before Mrs. Burnett departed this life she sang the beautiful hymm "Lord I Am Coming Home." In the death of Mrs. Burnett the community has suffered a very sad loss but may the God who is able to temper the wind be able to comfort and sustain the bereaved family. Written by her brother, R.L. Burnett. Ada was the daughter of Jeremiah Burton and Louisiana Watson Albritton.  The obituary was written by her brother-in-law, R.L. Burnett.

A big thanks goes out to Carla Miles for submitting this information!
