In Memoriam
On October 16, 1910 the Grim Reaper descended, sword in hand and clipped the
brittle thread that bound our dear relative, Mrs. Fannie Hart to earthly ties.
She was born July 24, 1860; joined the Methodist church when seventeen
and was ever a faithful member. She leaves behind a husband, four children, two
sisters, a brother, many relatives and friends by the score. Being ever kind and
thoughtful of others her friends were numbered by her acquaintances. Always of
a cherry disposition, not complaining at fate for the severe trials with which
she came in contact along life’s pathway, but ever looking to an All-wise
Providence for guidance and strength to bear them. Only those who were with her
during her last illness could realize how complete was her resignation to God’s
will. While the cruel cancer was eating away her vitals she was calm, always
expressing profound confidence in the Great Designer. My association with dear
aunt Fannie, while doing what I could to comfort and cheer her in her last days,
will ever be a bright remembrance.
While a place here is made vacant and hearts are made lonely we are drawn nearer
the realms above. And with the eye of faith we can see her looking over the
battlements of heaven beckoning us to a brighter nobler life; beckoning us
to place our destiny wholly into the hands of our Lord, so that we may be
accorded the welcome, “Well done thou good and faithful servant.”

Additional Comments:
**Note - the individual's name at the beginning of this obit was listed as
Dannie, but further along in the obit she was referred to as Aunt Fannie. I'm
not a researcher of this family so I don't know for certain the correct name of
the individual, but I have chosen to list her as Fannie when posting this
article. *****Submitted by

In Memoriam
Mrs. Susie Robinson Askew was born in Macon County Sept. 27, 1845. From
the time of her marriage to Mr. J.M. Askew in 1869, until her death October 8,
1910, she was a resident of this county for forty-two years; she faithfully
served her Master as a member of the Missionary Baptist Church at Bluff Springs,
Chattahoochee County. She not only professed religion, but her daily life was a
beautiful example of the true Christian. Even in the darkest hours of her
affliction her faith never wavered. Appendicitis was the cause of her death. A
few weeks after the first attack, she seemed greatly improved, and hopes were
entertained for her recovery, but a second attack October 6th found her too weak
to stand it, and death followed two days later. She always gave good advice to
her children. Even on her deathbed, she seemed to have some special message for
them, but they could not understand her. Her neighborliness and kindly sympathy
are greatly missed in her community. The vacancy that will always be in the
home, only the aged husband and heartbroken daughters can understand.
