Died
The many friends of Miss Sannie McKinny, who resided in Butler a few
years ago, will be pained to learn of her death, which sad event occurred at San
Antonio, Texas, where she had been spending a few weeks hoping to regain her
wanted health, on Saturday, September 10th. She was one of the sweetest and
best young ladies that ever resided in our community, and this intelligence will
carry sadness to many hearts. A more extended notice will appear in our next
issue.

A Sad Death
Death, grim death folded in his tender arms the fair and lovely form of Miss
Sannie B. McKinney, and the angel with outstretched wings bore her shining soul
to Heaven’s home sweet home, Sept. 10th. Suffering for some time with
lung trouble, she had been for several months at San Antonio, Texas, where
beneath its warm, genial clime and sunny smiles loving hearts hoped her health
would be permanently restored, but death stole softly to her and closed her
eyelids calmly as to a night’s repose, like flowers at set of sun, and now death
lies on her like an untimely frost, upon the sweetest flowers in all the field.
For several years she lived in our midst and was indeed a most noble and lovable
character. Her nature was full of sunshine and her heart melting in kindness
won for her the friendship of all, for to know her was to love her, and many are
the hearts bowed in deepest sorrow and grief at her early demise. To the
bereaved family and loved ones of our lamented friend, we tender our earnest and
most heartfelt sympathies in this, their deep affliction and trust they may meet
her sweet spirit in the Celestial City, where with her dear ones gone before she
forms a glorious part of the angelic choir which surrounds the throne of God.

Additional Comments: Note: The last name is spelled differently in each
article. I've opted to use the spelling from the second article. I'm not a
researcher of this family and don't know the correct spelling of the name.

Died
The many friends of Rev. W.M. Watts will be pained to learn of his death
which sad event occurred at his home at Boston, Ga., on the 29th of Sept., after
a short illness. Four years ago Mr. Watts served as pastor of then Crowell’s
work and made many warm friends. At the close of this years labor he lost his
estimable companion, and was afterwards married to Miss Lizzie Foy, of this
county. He was one of the most zealous ministers of the South Ga.
Conference and a pure Christian gentleman, and died having the full assurance
that all was well.
