Georgia Mailing List

There is a new mailing list devoted to Georgia. You may be subscribed to Deep-South Roots which covered several states. To subscribe to the Georgia Mailing list, send message to:

I just learned how to use this effectively, and if others have some tips
they have used, please share them!!

1) Use Quotes around the Subject Line that you are searching for.
"Amerson Family Cemetery" " Baptist Minister Look-Up" or just the Surname i.e. Ruffin

People have also asked me "How to I get ALL the messages?" There are TWO Methods for this:

Type in "GATaylor-L" and you will get all 896 messages for 1999.....25 at
a time. This could take you a very long time, but at least you could get
them if you wanted to!! The arrangement is by "match number", and I've
just inquired as to how this is determined for a generic
"GATaylor-L"....doesn't appear to be in chronological order like you'd think!

IMPORTANCE OF SUBJECT LINE WHEN YOU POST
The Search Engines only search the "subject line".....so that is a reason
why it is so important for your subject line to be clear, i.e. "John
Ruffin family" or "Snakebite Township"

A generic "Surnames" or forgetting to include a subject at all, won't be
as helpful.

Most of you Taylor County Posters do use a "good" Subject Line, and that
will be very beneficial for people joining the list later and searching for
your Surname.

EASIER METHOD TO GET ALL THE MESSAGES

Here's an even easier method to see the messages that have been posted and
this can be done by Chronological Order!

There is a Threaded Mailing List Search Engine....

http://archiver.rootsweb.com/archives/search.html

Type in GATAYLOR-L

FIRST one under this is:
Index of /GaTaylor-L

http://archiver.rootsweb.com/GaTaylor-L/

Here you'll see "groups" of messages:
1999-01
1999-02
etc
1999-07

Choose one of these.....

Now, this is a "secure" system so you'll need to create your password for
ALL of Rootsweb, if you have not done this already. The password is NOT
just for Taylor County....but for all of Rootsweb.
BE SURE TO KEEP it written down, so you'll have it.

Then you'll have the choice of:
Chronological Order

or

Threaded Messages

I found the Threaded Messages to be sort of peculiar....the threads didn't
seem to connect, but I didn't spend alot of time trying to figure them out.

The Chronological Order though is quite good. (The LATEST messages have not
been archives yet.
8:47 am on July 16th was the last one posted. So allow for some delay time
here....
I'm guessing they only do this once a day....probably at night.
