mrs. mildred lee moody

 

Mrs. Mildred Lee Moody, age 70, of Hiawassee, GA passed away Friday, December 31, 2004 following a period of declining health.  She was born to the late Walter queen and mother, Lovell Taylor, and stepfather, Grady Taylor on November 10, 1934.  She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and stepfather.  She was a member of the Eastern Star, and a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.  She was employed by Orbit Mills for 25 years, and was currently employed by Hiawassee Hardware.  She is survived by her husband, Mr. Kenneth Moody, of Hiawassee, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Dennis Youngblood, of Hiawassee, GA; son and daughter-in-law, mark and Karen Moody, of Flowery Branch, GA; brothers, Mr. L.G. Taylor and Mr. John Terry Taylor, both of Hiawassee, GA; sisters, Mrs. Jounida Bradley and Mrs. Jewel Nicholson, both of Hiawassee, GA; grandchildren, Jeff Youngblood, of Hiawassee, GA; and Andrew and Olivia Moody, both of Flowery Branch, GA.  Funeral services were held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church at 2 PM on January 2, 2005 with the Rev. Anthony dye officiating.  Music was provided by the church choir, Bobby Taylor, and Becky Underwood.  Pallbearers were Jack Cheeks, Doug Chastain, Willie Nichols, Jackie Barnes, Johnny Barnes, and Mike Crisp.  Honorary pallbearers were employees of Hiawassee Hardware.  Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge of arrangements.

mrs. gladys twiggs

 

Mrs. Gladys Twiggs, age 89, native and lifelong resident of Young Harris, GA, passed away Thursday, December 30,2004.

Mrs. Twiggs was born Friday, may 14, 1915, in Towns County, GA, a daughter of the late Alexander Cowan Cook and Mary Jo Daniel Cook.  Mrs. Twiggs was a member of Sharp Memorial Methodist Church in Young Harris, and was preceded in death by her husband, John Clyde Twiggs, Sr., in 1971; and a sister, Eula George Cook Abernathy, in 1996.

Survivors include a daughter, Marcia Ann Twigs; and a son and daughter-in-law, John Clyde Twiggs, Jr., and Joan S. Twiggs, all of Young Harris; many nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

            Funeral services were held Sunday, January 2, 2005, at 2:00 p.m., at Susan B. Harris Chapel of Young Harris College, with Dr. John Kay and Rev. Rayburn Wilson officiating.  Burial was in Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery.   Special music was presented by Sam Ensley, Rev. Rayburn Wilson, and Bill Fox.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Chris Smith, Paul Greene, Doug Davenport, Bill Kuykendall, Odell Plott, and Robert Elliott.  The following gentlemen served as honorary escort to the family: Joseph H. Cook, Tommy Daniel, David Friedly, Leon Davenport, Ben Warner, Carl Meroney, Roy Nicholson, David Smith, Dr. Charles Warnock, Ron Caudill and Frank Burkart.

mrs. geraldine a. gibson

 

Mrs. Geraldine A. Gibson, age 70, of Hiawassee, GA, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at her home.

Mrs. Gibson was born May 19, 1934, in Towns County, GA, to the late Harley and Gracie (Burch) Anderson.  She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Hayesville, NC.  Mrs. Gibson was also preceded in death by a son, Randall Gibson.

Survivors include: husband, Leonard Gibson of Hiawassee, GA, son, Rev. Stanley Gibson of Blairsville, GA; daughter, Janice Crisp of Murphy, NC; son, Charles Gibson of Charleston, SC; son, Stephen Gibson of Murphy, NC; sisters, Muriel Sanders of Marietta, GA; Pat Bass of Columbus, GA; and Emma Jean Whitten of Columbus, GA; sister Margaret Cothren of Hiawassee, GA; brother, Daryl Anderson of Ball Ground, GA; nine grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services were held Friday, December 31, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. from Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. James Lee officiating. Music was by the Phillips Family. Pallbearers were Andy Gibson, Matt Crisp, Anthony Taylor, Marcel Smith, T.J. Garrett and Justin Sampson. Interment was in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery.
