clay jack berrong

 

Mr. Clay Jack Berrong, age 87, of Hiawassee, GA, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2007.  Mr. Berrong was born Tuesday, August 12, 1919 in Towns County, GA to the late Allen Berrong and Bertha Eller Berrong.  He was a member of McConnell memorial Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.  He was a WWII Army Veteran.  He retired from the Federal Reserve Bank in Atlanta.  He was preceded in death by sister, Docia Moss and brother, Clyde Berrong.

Survivors include: wife, Jimmie Berrong of Hiawassee, GA; daughter, Carolyn Quattlebaum of Garyson, GA; son & daughter-in-law, Stan and Jacki Berrong of McDonough, GA; sister, Lorene Wood of Hiawassee, GA; sister, Christine Langston of Macon, GA; five grandchildren, Matthew Quattlebaum and wife Shannon, Shane Quattlebaum, Marshall Quattlebaum and wife Jenny, Nathan Berrong, Chera Berrong Downs and husband Billy; three great-grandchildren, Kate Quattlebaum, Jackson Quattlebaum and Davis Downs; several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.  He was a good, gracious, and Goldly man.  His family will miss him greatly and looks forward to being reunited with him in Heaven.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at 1 p.m. from the McConnell Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. Rudy Patton, Rev. Ralph Easterwood and Rev. Stan Berrong officiating. Music was provided by Marc McFarland and Sandy Payton.  Interment was in Laurel Hills Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard.  Serving as pallbearers were: Matthew Quattlebaum, Marshall Quattlebaum, Nathan Berrong, Billy Downs, Eric Edkin and Tommy Venable.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to McConnell memorial Baptist Church Building Fund.

john michael “jack” fulton

 

Mr. John Michael “Jack” Fulton, age 72, of Hiawassee, GA, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2007 at his residence.  Mr. Fulton was born Monday, June 4, 1934 in Cleveland, OH to the late John Fulton and Lillian Gannon Fulton.  He was owner and operator of Fulton Construction of plant City, FL.  He attended Old Union Baptist Church and was preceded in death by son, Richard Fulton.  He hobbies were golfing, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include: wife, Carolyn Fulton of Hiawassee, GA; son & daughter-in-law, John and Debbie Fulton of Seaside; OR, son & daughter-in-law, James and Debra Fulton of Gainesville, FL; son & daughter-in-law, Tim and Terri Fulton of Reno, NV; daughter & son-in-law, Barbara and Dennis Brodrick of Portland, OR; son & daughter-in-law, Mark and Carol Fulton of Gainesville, FL; daughter, Mary Fulton of Plant City, FL; daughter 7 son-in-law, Nicole and Bill Cross of Plant City, FL; step-son, Benny Kimsey of Sarasota, FL; step-son, Donald Kimsey of Young Harris, GA; step-daughter, Michele Ray of Plant City, FL; brother, Richard Fulton of Hendersonville, NC; sister, Mickey Stansbury of Mentor, OH; 9 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren and 2 great-granddaughters, several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held Thursday, January 11, 2007 at 11 a.m. from the Old Union Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Hogsed officiating.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to Old Union Baptist Church, 1772 Old Union Church Road, Young Harris, GA 30582.

james nicholson charlton

 

Mr. James Nicholson Charlton, age 77, of Hiawassee, GA, passed away Monday, January 8, 2007.  Mr. Charlton was born Thursday, April 4, 1929 in Spokane, WA to the late Merritt Charlton and Adele Nelson Charlton.  He served as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.  He graduated from Gonzaga University in Spokane with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.  He worked as a nuclear start-up engineer in Longview, WA, Dothan, AL and retired in 1990 from the Savannah River Site in Aiken, SC.  He relocated to Hiawassee where he lived for the past 11 years.

Survivors include: wife, Jacquie Charlton of Hiawassee, GA; sons, Mark Charlton of Longview, WA, Ed Charlton of Tigard, OR, Keith Charlton of Dothan, AL and Daniel Charlton of Vancouver, WA; daughter, Susan Anderson of Longview, WA; nine grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.

konnie gardner bedford

 

Konnie Gardner Bedford, age 65, of Hiawassee, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at Murphy Medical Center.  Konnie was born Wednesday, July 23, 1941 in Muscogee Co. GA to the late Walter Lewis Gardner and the late Margie Elizabeth Pye Gardner.  Coming from Jacksonville, FL, she had lived in the Hiawassee area since July of 2003.  She loved drawing and working with word puzzles, she was preceded in death by son, Timothy Lewis Fesler.

Survivors include: husband, Frey Byron Bedford; son & daughter-in-law, James & Amanda Fesler of Hiawassee; aunt, Agnes Bell of Palatka, FL; sister, Debbie Blythe of North Carolina; twenty-one grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

As per her request cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.

james russell adams

 

James Russell Adams of Hiawassee passed away January 6, 2007.  Born in Boatman, Oklahoma on February 29, 1916, he attended NE State College in Oklahoma, and was a member of united Methodist Church of North Little Rock, AR, and for the past 7 years he resided in Hiawassee, GA.  He served in the U.S. Army in World War II in the European Theater.  Before that he worked for Peoples Oil Company and later from the Postal and Railway Mail Service.  He loved hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Vivian Adams; daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Tom Garrison of Hiawassee, GA; 2 grandchildren and 3 great- grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 8, 2006 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Memorial park Funeral Home.  Interment followed in Memorial Park Mausoleum.  The family received friends Monday at the funeral home from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
