Dr. Earl Ford Smith, age 85 of Young Harris, GA, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2005 at Chatuge Regional Hospital.  Mr. Smith was born Saturday, May 15, 1920 in Granite Falls, NC to the late Clarence and Aner (Estes) Smith.  He attended the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Hayesville, NC.  Dr. Smith served his country during WWII in the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include: wife, Joyce Poole Smith of Young Harris, GA, son, Stephen Paul Smith of N. Palm Beach, FL, sister, Jean Bailey of Charlotte, NC, sister, Joanne Yount of Charlotte, NC, sister, Margie Johnson of Madeira Beach, FL, brother, David smith, Calif.  Memorial services were held Thursday, January 5, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. from the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.  Interment followed in Holy Trinity Episcopal Church Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer society.

mr. taft “D.l.” Ledford

 

Mr. Taft “D.L.” Ledford, age 96 of Young Harris, GA, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2006 at Union County Nursing Home.  Mr. Ledford was born Sunday, May 39, 1909 in Clay County, NC to the late Sam Ledford and Mattie (Worley) Ledford.  He was of the Church of God Faith.  Mr. Ledford was preceded in death by son, Grover B. Ledford and daughter, Mary Frances Long.

Survivors include: his wife of 72 years, Bonnie Lee Ledford, son, James Ledford of Dallas, GA, daughter, Anna Lou Allen of Blairsville, GA, daughter, Doris Jones of Young Harris, GA, son, Everett Glen Ledford of Blairsville, GA, son, Elton Don Ledford of Young Harris, GA, daughter, Hilda Parker of jasper, GA, daughter, Teresa Ann Barnard of Blairsville, GA, sister, Cleo Boling, SC, sister, Eva Nell Silvers of Hayesville, NC, brother, Hayes Ledford of Hayesville, NC.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 14, 2006 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Youngblood and Rev. Glen Eller officiating.  Music was by Ryan Wilson and Sheila Eller.  Grandsons served as pallbearers.  Interment was in Old Brasstown Baptist Church.

clifford benjamin bradshaw

 

Clifford Benjamin Bradshaw, age 70 of Hiawassee, GA, passed away Friday, January 6, 2006 at his home.  Mr. Bradshaw was born Tuesday, February 5, 1935 in Towns County, GA to the late Decatur Bradshaw and the late Clara Henson Bradshaw.  A member of the Macedonia Baptist Church he loved his church, grandchildren and antique cars.  He was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include: wife, Darlene Olson Bradshaw; son, Robert B. Bradshaw of Snellville; son & daughter-in-law, Clifford B. & Lorie Bradshaw of Hiawassee; son & daughter-in-law, Christopher M. & Cindy Bradshaw of Hiawassee; brothers, Decatur Bradshaw, Jack Bradshaw James Bradshaw, Leon Bradshaw, Jerry Bradshaw, all of Hiawassee; sister, Margie McKenzie of Hiawassee; sister, Dorothy Ledford of Hayesville; sister, opal Carnes of Young Harris; sister, Betty jean Robinson of Atlanta; sister, Anna Sue Ledford of Wilksbro; grandchildren, parker Bradshaw, Aaron Bradshaw, Brett Bradshaw, Kevin Bradshaw, Morgan Bradshaw, Garrett Bradshaw and Trent Bradshaw, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 9, 2006 at 2 PM from the Macedonia Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold Ledford officiating.  Music was by Bobby Taylor, Stanley and Carol Wood.  Interment followed in the church cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were: Ricky Mathis, Bill Kendall, Enoch Ledford, Don Smith, Cecil Sanders, Winston Farmer.  Honorary pallbearers included: Hugh Hoodenpyle and Walter Osborn.

mr. plato dallas parker

 

Mr. Plato Dallas Parker, age 87 of Young Harris, GA, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at Chatuge Regional Nursing Home.  Mr. Parker was born Thursday, March 28, 1918 in Robbinsville, NC to the late Ralph D. and Ella Farr Parker.  He was a member of Clay County Masonic Lodge #301 for 54 years and Woods Grove Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by brothers, Ben and J.R. Parker.

Survivors include: wife of 66 years, Emma C. Parker of Hiawassee, GA, daughter, Joan Sosebee of Young Harris, GA, son, Dean Parker of Eastover, SC, son, Jerry Parker of Gainesville, GA, son, Richard Parker of Grifton, NC, daughter, Judy Patterson of Hayesville, NC daughter, Kathy Hill of Newnan, GA, brothers, John Ray Parker of Young Harris, GA, Harold Parker of Black Mountain, NC and Lowell parker of Stockbridge, GA, sisters, Hazel Campbell of Newark, OH, Mary Eller of Hayesville, NC, Evangeline Campbell and Willa Mae VanVyckt both of Charlotte, NC, 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Friday, January 13, 2006 at 11 A.M. from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. William Sissum and Rev. Jerry Parker officiating.  Music was provided by Rhonda Lents and Vicky Coker.  Interment was in Woods Grove Baptist Cemetery with Masonic Graveside Rites conducted by the Clay County Masonic Lodge #301.  Pallbearers were Eddie Sosebee, Patrick Sosebee, Terry Parker, Tim Barrett, Craig Sosebee, Jeremy parker and James Hill.
