mrs. barbara k. chaille

 

Mrs. Barbara K. Chaille, age 72, of Airline Road, Young Harris, passed away on Monday, January 17, 2005 in the Murphy Medical Center following an extended illness.  Mrs. Chaille was born on February 24, 1932 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late Arthur Kveck and the late Louise Lenzi Kveck.  She was a member of the Young Harris Garden Club and also the Young Harris Knitting Club.  She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Chaille in 1985.  Mrs. Chaille was of the protestant faith.

Surviving Mrs. Chaille are her loving husband, Robert Chaille of Young Harris; one daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Darrel Dietz of Cumming, GA; two sons, Christopher Chaille of Palm Bay, FL, Matthew Chaille of Burien, WA; one brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Carol Kveck of Euless, TX; six grandchildren, Michelle, Tim, Adam, Liz, Sara, and Jacob; one great grandchild, Emily; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Memorial services were held on Thursday, January 20, 2005 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. John Kay officiating.  Flowers are accepted or those desiring may make contributions to the Towns-Union Humane Societies in Mrs. Chaille’s memory. 

Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville was in charge of the arrangements.

Bruce Hume rumph, sr.

 

Bruce Hume Rumph, Sr., age 79, of Young Harris, GA, passed away Monday, January 17, 2005.  He was born November 28, 1925 in Miami, FL, son of the late Charles Hume Rumph and Ernestine Laurie de Gotreau Rumph.

Mr. Rumph worked as a District Marketing Manager in the Southeast Florida commercial division of Southern Bell and retired with 35 years service.  He served in WWII as a navigator on a B29 bomber in the U.S. Army Air Force.

He actively participated on the Vestry at Trinity Episcopal Church in Miami, FL, Holy Cross Church in Valley Crucis, NC and the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Hayesville, NC.  He was a former member of the Lions Club, Toastmasters and various square dancing clubs throughout Florida, North Carolina and Georgia.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy-Jane Rumph, Young Harris, GA; daughter, Susan Kartzmark, West Palm Beach, FL; sons, Tom Rumph, Winter Garden, FL, Bruce Rumph, Jr., Miami, FL and Jeff Rumph, Sevierville, TN; grandchildren, Jennifer, Shawn, Heather, Charles, Tyler and Conner; great-grandchildren, Jake, Jacqueline, Cole, Karson-Marie and Ryan; sister, Helen Marie Dalenberg, Greenville, SC.

Memorial services were held Friday, January 21, 2005 at 3 p.m. from the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Hayesville, NC, officiated by Father John Rice.  Inurnment took place in the Memorial Garden at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 495 Herbert Hills Drive, Hayesville, NC 28904 or to your favorite charity.

mr. thomas logan barrett

 

            Mr. Thomas Logan Barrett, age 72, of Hiawassee, GA passed away at his residence on January 22, 2005 following a period of declining health.  He was born to Alfred and Mae (Cannup) Barrett on March 20, 1932 in Towns County, GA.   He is preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Guy Barrett in 1976.  He served as a Senior Chief Petty Officer in the United states Navy in the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and retired after 10 years of service.  He was a member of Union Hill United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #7807.  He is survived by his parents, James Alfred and Mae Barrett, of Hiawassee, GA; wife, Mrs. Eva Carolyn Barrett, of the home, son, Mr. Thomas Wesley, of Hiawassee, GA; brothers, Mr. Odis Barrett and Mr. James Barrett, both of Hiawassee, GA; sister, Mrs. Fannie Bell Rogers, of Murphy, NC; and sister, Mrs. Shirley Nichols, of Hiawassee, GA.  A number of nieces and nephews also survive.  Funeral services were held on Monday, January 24, 2005 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Banister Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Fuller, and the Rev. Charles Wilson officiating.  Pallbearers were Vester Barrett, Benny Barrett, Jerry Nichols, Kenny Rogers, Scott Taylor, and Chad Hooper.  Interment was in Burch Cemetery with military honors by the North Georgia Honor Guard.  Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge of arrangements.

mr. jay b. queen

 

Mr. Jay B. Queen, age 81, of Hiawassee, GA passed away Friday, January 21, 2005 at Chatuge Regional Hospital.

Mr. Queen was born Monday, April 2, 1923 in towns County, Georgia to the late Kim and Lula Walls Queen.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in WWII, a member of the Unicoi Masonic Lodge #259 and was a Shriner.  Mr. Queen was preceded in death by brother, Ray Queen.

Survivors include: wife, Faye Queen of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Rosemary Queen of Chatsworth, GA; son, Gene queen of Hardwick, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Jerry Long of Lexington, NC and Diane and Scott Adams of Hiawassee, GA; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Eunice Youngblood of Moline, IL.

Funeral services were held on Monday, January 24, 2005 at 2 p.m. from the North Mt. Zion Church of god with Rev. Raburne Wilson and Rev. Glenville Nichols officiating.  Special music by Willie and Nola Jean Nichols, Sheila Eller and Raburne and Lynn Wilson.  Pallbearers were Jackie Barnes, Johnny Barnes, Gary Barnes, Jeffrey Barnes, Jason Dyer and Willie Nichols.  Honorary pallbearer was Willard Dyer.
