Jack
Lockaby, 70, of Towns County, GA, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009 in a
Northeast
Georgia medical center. A native of
Towns County, GA, he had lived in Woodstock, GA, before moving to
Blairsville,
GA, in 1992. he
was the son of the late Henry Grady and Nancy Ethel Owenby Lockaby. He had served in the United States
Marine
Corp from 1956-1960. Jack had been owner
and operator of Jack’s Barber Shop in Woodstock. He
was of the Baptist faith.
He was
also preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Hughes; and
three brothers, Horace, Harold, and Max Lockaby.
Surviving
are his wife, Mary Ann Hughes Lockaby; three sons, Kevin Lockaby of
Blairsville, and Kerry and Keith Lockaby both of Woodstock; three
sisters, Nola
Martin of Blairsville, Murval Ybarbo of Houston, TX, and Bonita Cook of
Bethlehem, GA; and a grandson, Trent Lockaby of Woodstock, GA.
Funeral
services were held at 2 PM Friday, Jan. 16 in the Chapel of the Ivie
Funeral Home,
Murphy, with Rev.
Aud Brown officiating. Interment was in
the Bellview United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Hoyt and Eric Hughes, and Jerry, Trent, Kevin,
and Matt
Lockaby. Honorary pallbearers were
Vernon West, and Michael, Eddie, and Mark Lockaby.
The family
received friends from 6-8 Thursday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home,
Murphy.
In lieu of
flowers, the family requests memorials be
made in
memory of Jack Lockaby to the Marine Corp League No. 1011, PO Box 1652,
Murphy,
NC 28906.
Ivie

arrangements.

jonathon daniel “danny” nichols
Mr.
Jonathon
Daniel “Danny” Nichols, age 61, of Young Harris, GA, lost his
courageous battle
with cancer on January 23, 2009. He was
born to Ralph and Hazel (Coker) Nichols on June 13, 1947 in Clay
County,
NC. He was preceded in death by his
father, Ralph Nichols, sisters, Doris Stegall and Glenda Shook. He was an Air Force veteran.
He served during the Vietnam Era as an
airplane mechanic, which led to his employment with delta Airlines. After thirty-three years of employment with
Delta Airlines, he retired to his birthplace of Young Harris, GA. he was a member of
Stephens Masonic Lodge #414 in Young Harris, GA.
He is
survived by his mother, Mrs. Hazel Nichols, of Young
Harris, GA; wife, Mrs. Linda P. Nichols, of Young Harris, GA; daughter,
Christia Nichols, of Kennesaw, GA; sons, Sean Nichols (Roni), of
Thomasville,
NC; Chad Nichols (Rhonda), of Braselton, GA; brother and sister-in-law,
R.
Terrell Nichols (Patricia), of Romulus, MI; sisters and
brothers-in-law, Irma
McClure (Carroll), of Hayesville, NC; Joanne Chamblee (James), of
Gainesville,
GA; two grandchildren, Keegan and Gabrielle Nichols, both of
Thomasville, NC;
and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. He
also loved his two dogs, Lucky and Star.
A memorial service
was held on Sunday, January 25, 2009 at 2 PM from Old Union Baptist
Church with
Rev. Jimmy Hogsed and Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating.
