Stella Rogers McConnell, age 93, of Hiawassee, died Saturday, February 3, 2007 at a private healthcare facility following an extended illness.  Born in Towns County on June 11, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Hendrix & Cora Hood Rogers.  She was a homemaker and attended Union Hill Methodist Church in Towns County.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray McConnell; daughter, June McConnell; brothers, Nesba Rogers, Clarence Rogers, and Ramsey Rogers; and sister, Elsie Ramey.

Surviving are daughter, Kathy Kinsey of Mt. Airy; son, John McConnell of Chamblee; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2007 from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Stanley McConnell officiating.  Interment followed in Burch Cemetery.  The family received friends at the funeral home from 2-4 p.m. on Monday.  The family was at the residence of her daughter, Kathy Kinsey, 155 Donald Cleveland Road, Mt. Airy, GA 30563.

Magnolia Bradshaw, age 92, of Woods Rd., Clayton, GA, died Monday, February 5, 2007 at the home of her daughter, Easter Brewer.  Born in Towns County, GA February 11, 1914.  She was the daughter of the late Tryon Bradshaw and Rosettie Garrett Bradshaw.  She was thrice married to Carley Isaac Justice, J.W. grant, and Barney Carter.  She was a homemaker and was a member of the Sunnyside Freedom Baptist Church, Westminister, SC.  She was preceded in death by Asoni Carlos, Felton Justice; two brothers; and tow sisters.

She is survived by two sons, Carley H. Justice of Anoris, SC and Joseph Grant of Bishopville, SC; 6 daughters, Lorene Thatcher of Lakeview, OR, Maggie Lee of West Union, SC, Blondie Pressley of Leesburg, GA, Lenora Smith of Westminister, SC, Atha Jones of Westminister, SC, Easter Brewer of Clayton, GA; one sister, Odie Reed of Hiawassee, GA, 41 grandchildren; 106 great-grandchildren, 39 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, February 8m, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the Sunnyside Freedom Baptist Church, Westminister, SC with Rev. Brian McAllister and Rev. Michael Rogers officiating.  Burial was in the church cemetery.  The body was at Hunter Funeral Home where the family received friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday night, February 7, 2007.  The family was at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Easter and Ronnie Brewer in Clayton, GA.

patricia ann plott

 

Mrs. Patricia Ann Plott, age 56, of Meadow Lane Young Harris passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at the home of her son following an extended illness.  Mrs. Plott was born on October 3, 1950 in Clay County, NC, the daughter of Lawrence Stroud and the late Mamie Lands Stroud.  She was a lifelong resident of Towns and Clay Counties.  Before her sickness, she was a CAN and was a wonderful care giver to the elderly for many years.  She was a loving mother and friend to all who knew her.  Mrs. Plott was a member of the Shiloh Baptist church.

Surviving Mrs. Plott are one son, Jeffery Plott of Young Harris; father, Lawrence Stroud of Hayesville; two-step children, Jason Woody and Phillip Haines both of Young Harris; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Loyd and JoAnn Lands of Hayesville, Johnny and Amanda Stroud of Young Harris; one sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Lowell Shook of Young Harris; two grandchildren, Presley and Adam Plott; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at 11 a.m. from the Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Rogers, Rev. Clark Moss, Rev. Bill Dyer and Rev. Kyle Cody officiating.  Special music was presented by the Cody Family, Michelle, Adam and Presley Plott, Jeanette Vest, Grapell Thompson, Tammy Miller and L.D. and Irene Buchanan.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Jeff Butts, Billy Carney, Junior Chastain, Richard Carswell, Bill Norton, Ellot Arrwood, and Bill Kendall.  Interment followed in the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family met with friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. and on Monday evening at the Shiloh Baptist Church after 6 p.m.
