ruth victoria taylor

 

Mrs. Ruth Victoria Taylor, age 72, of Hiawassee, GA, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2007 following a brief illness.  She was born to the late Dillard and Opel (Ledford) Moss on December 27, 1934 in Towns County, GA.

She is survived by daughters, Connie Taylor of Helen, GA and Vicki Jenkins of Young Harris, GA; sons, Anthony and Bryant Taylor, both of Hiawassee, GA; brothers, Max Moss of Clayton, GA, Doug Moss of Hayesville, NC, Alton Moss of Hiawassee, GA, Larry Moss of Hiawassee, GA and Roger Moss of Hayesville, NC; sister, Carolyn Holbrook of Blairsville, GA, grandchildren, Chad and Lindsey Parramore, Bradley Taylor, Keisha O’Hearn, and Blake, Dylan, and Adam Taylor; great-grandchild, Brelyn Taylor O’Hearn; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, February 15, 2007 from Bell Scene Baptist Church at 11 a.m. with Rev. Tommy Jenkins, Rev. Chris Anderson, and Rev. Leon Henderson officiating.  Music was provided by the church choir.  Pallbearers were Justin Moss, Bradley Taylor, Chad Parramore, Blake Taylor, Brandon O’Hearn, and Greg Taylor.  Honorary pallbearers were Dylan and Adam Taylor.  Interment was in Bell Scene Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family received friends at the church on Wednesday, February 14, 2007 from 6 to 9 p.m.

laverne marie humphrey

 

Mrs. LaVerne Marie Humphrey, age 63, of Young Harris, GA, formerly of Macon, GA, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2007 at her home.  Mrs. Humphrey was born Wednesday, January 5, 1944 in Spalding County, GA, to the late James Hugh and Callie (Schiver) McLaurin.  She was a retired Auditor with Georgia DEFACS.  Mrs. Humphrey was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Blairsville.

Survivors include: her husband, Charles Humphrey of Young Harris; son, David Bass of Griffin, GA; step-son, Harvey Humphrey of Waukusha, WI; step-son, Don Humphrey of Canton, GA; step-daughter, Kathryn Nelson of Marietta, GA; two grandchildren also survive, along with many friends.

Funeral services were held at Faith Baptist Church, Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at 2 p.m. with pastor Joseph Hutcheson and Pastor Richard Helms officiating.  The body was placed instate at the church at 1:30 p.m.  Music was provided by Faith Baptist Church Choir.  Interment followed in Union Memory Gardens.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Dr. Tracy Edwards, James Clark, Rick Hurd, Don Theriault, Kevin Proctor, and Richard Fairburn.  Serving as honorary pallbearers were Larry Mandigo and Ernest Rice.  The family received friends at the funeral home from 6 until 9 p.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2007.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to Faith Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, P.O. Box 790, Blairsville, GA 30514.

norma mae hesson

 

Mrs. Norma Mae Hesson, age 83 of Young Harris, GA, passed away Friday, February 16, 2007 at North East Georgia Medical Center.  Mrs. Hesson was born Sunday, March 18, 1923 in Lawrence County, OH to the late Wilson Ward and Ruby Edwards Ward.  She was a member of Hiawassee Church of Christ and was preceded in death by brothers, Kimball Ward and Baxter Ward and sister, Mary Evelyn Thompson.

Survivors include: husband, Leo Hesson of Young Harris, GA; daughter, Joy Hesson of Blairsville, GA; daughter & son-in-law, Judy and Russ Magowan of Cumming, GA; daughter, Jacquie Faucett of Duluth, GA; sister, Ruth Adkins of Rome, OH; grandsons, Rusty Magowan and Danny Magowan; granddaughters, Mary Sulava and Suzannah Smith; great-grandchildren, Sarah Magowan, Zachary Magowan, Marissa Smith, Bonnie Smith, Matthew Sulava and Joshua Magowan; nephew, Kim Adkins; nieces, Connie Ward and Penny Showalter.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 19, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with the Minister Forrest Chapman, Minister Arthur Howard and Minister Dwight Hesson officiating.  Music was provided by Russ Stewart.  Interment was in Laurel Hills memorial Gardens.  Serving as pallbearers were: Rusty Magowan, Danny Magowan, Glynn Shriver, Peter Sulava, Barry Smith and Robert Jarrard.  Honorary pallbearers included Melvin Denny and Harry Cauble.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may e made to Mid Western Childrens Home, 4585 Longspurling Road, PO Box 48, Pleasant Plaints, OH 45162.
