mrs. elizabeth (betsy) cole

 

Mrs. Elizabeth (Betsy) Cole, age 63 of Hiawassee, GA, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2006 at her residence.

Mrs. Cole was born Wednesday, April 15, 1942 in Lowell, MA to the late Elliot Perrin and Elizabeth (Bombardier) Perrin.  She had resided in East Hartford, CT from 1943-1986, Marietta, GA from 1986-1990 and Blairsville, GA from 1990-2003 before moving to Hiawassee in 2003.  She graduated from East Hartford High School in 1960, Morse Business School in 1961, Manchester Community College in 1984, Johnson and Wales Culinary Institute in 1985 and had worked for Kruse Caterers before moving to GA.  She was a member of East Cobb Quilt Guild, Misty Mountain Quilt Guild and Sew Sisters.

Survivors include: husband, John Cole of Hiawassee and daughter, Elizabeth (Liz) Cole of Woodstock, GA.

Memorials services will e held Friday, March 3, 2006 at 12 Noon from the Immaculate Heart of Mary, in Hayesville, NC, with the Father George Kloster officiating. 

The family will receive friends following service at the church.

mrs. dorothy josephine demarest

 

Mrs. Dorothy Josephine Demarest, age 93, of Hiawassee, GA, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at Chatuge Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Demarest was born Tuesday, April 23, 1912 in Brooklyn, NY to the late John and Lillian (Hedenberg) Duffy.  She moved to Hiawassee 3-1/2 years ago from Stone Mountain, GA and was a member of McConnell memorial Baptist Church.  Mrs. Demarest was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Demarest.

Survivors include: son and daughter-in-aw, Bruce and Elsie Demarest of Littleton, CO, daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Brian Armstrong of Hiawassee, GA, grandchildren and spouses, Brett and Leslie Armstrong, Curt and Anne Christine Armstrong, Starr and Jeffrey Livingston, Scott and Sarah Demarest, Sharon and Gerald Macner, grandchildren, Jacob Armstrong, Alexandra Armstrong, Connor Armstrong, Adele Armstrong, Caroline Armstrong, Alban Armstrong, Rachel Livingston, Stephanie Livingston, Kate Demarest, Lauren Demarest, Mark Demarest, Sophie Macner.

Memorial service was held Sunday, February 19, 2006 at 2 p.m. at McConnell Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. E. Rudy Patton and Dr. Bruce A. Demarest officiating.  Music was provided by Bo Shepherd, soloist, McConnell Men’s Ensemble and Connie Lake, Pianist.  In lieu of flowers donations may e made to McConnell memorial Baptist Church for the Peru Missions Project.

The family received friends at the church following the service.
