Mrs. Beth Banister Taylor, age 53, of Young Harris, GA passed away on Friday, January 26, 2007.  She was born to the late William Edwin and Martha Edith Slayton Banister on October 6, 1953.  She was a teacher with Towns County School System.

She is survived by her husband, Mr. Jerry Taylor of Young Harris; a brother and sister-in-law, William M. and Frances Banister of Young Harris; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Celebration services were held Saturday, February 3, 2007 at 3 p.m. from Sharp Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Darris Baker, Rev. John Kay, Rev. Fred Whitley, and Rev. John Rice officiating.  Interment was in Osborn Cemetery.

Kathy Holden, age 47, of Hayesville died Sunday, February 18, 2007 at her residence.  A native of Towns County, GA, she had lived in Clay County for over 20 years.  She was the daughter of the late Jessie Lee and Alva Ledford Arrowood.  Kathy was an employee of Ledford’s native Plants and Moss and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are her husband of thirty-two years, Fairley Holden; a son, Jeffery Scott Holden and wife, Amanda of Young Harris, GA; two sisters, Dorothy Patterson and husband, Michael of Hiawassee, GA and Betty Ledford and husband, William “Speedy: of Hayesville; three brothers, Rondal Arrowood of Hayesville, and Rex Arrowood and Ricky Arrowood and wife, Lisa all of Hiawassee; three grandchildren, Adam Scott Holden, Aaron Michael Holden and Andrew Evan Holden.

Funeral services were held at 11a.m. Thursday, February 22, 1007 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with the Revs. Eugene Freeman and Ricky Burrell officiating.  Interment was in the Eagle Fork Baptist Church Cemetery.  Pallbearers: Elton Moss, William Ledford, Danny Hollifield, Jamie Worley, David Ledford, and Stacie White.  The family received friends from 6-8 Wednesday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville.  The family requests memorials be made in memory of Kathy Holden to the eagle Fork Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 443 Dick Jones Road, Hayesville, NC 28904.

nora clea anderson garrett

 

Mrs. Nora Clea Anderson Garrett, age 92 of Hiawassee, GA, passed away Friday, February 23, 2007 at Chatuge Regional Nursing Home.  Mrs. Garrett was born Monday, September 14, 1914 in Clay County, NC to the late William Anderson and the late Samantha Davenport Anderson.  She was a member of Bell Scene Baptist Church.  Mrs. Garrett was preceded in death by her husband, Kieffer Garrett; a son, Buddy Garrett; 2 brothers; and 6 sisters.

Survivors include: daughter, Janie Cloer of Hayesville, NC; daughter, Jackie Garrett of Hiawassee, GA; special niece, Kathleen Burrell of Hayesville, NC; grandson, Stanley Cloer and special family, Linda Chastain and Mitchell Chastain; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held Sunday, February 25, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee with the Rev. Leon Henderson and the Rev. Denny Moss officiating.  Music was provided by the Eagle mountain Quartet.  Interment was in Bethabara Baptist Church Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were: Gene Penland, Dennis Penland, David Penland, Dwight Penland, Dale Penland and Jeff Penland.
