Linda
Gail Stephens, age 50, of Blairsville, Georgia passed away Thursday,
February
25, 2010 from injuries she sustained in an automobile accident.
Linda was
born on Tuesday, July 7, 1959 in Hiawassee, Georgia, to Willa Mae Floyd
Stephens of Blairsville and the late Mitchell Clay Stephens. She was a member of Fellowship of the Hills
Church in Blairsville.
Surviving
family members, in addition to her mother, are: sister and husband,
Gizelle and
Steve Thomas of Morganton, Georgia; sister and husband, Gwyneth and Joe
Yaita
of Murphy, NC; nephews: Brad Thomas, Justin Thomas and David Murphy;
nieces:
Brittany Thomas, Sleana Cook, Lisa Renbarger and Shirley Bryson; and
special
friend, Danny Murphy; twelve great nieces and nephews.
Funeral
services were held Sunday, February 28, 2010 at 2 PM from the Cochran
Funeral
Home Chapel with Rev. Marty Duncan and Rev. Kenny Beavers officiating. Music was provided by Scott Lance. The following gentlemen served as pallbearers:
Brad Thomas, Justin Thomas, Joey Colwell, Mike Patton, Junior Whitener
and
Jackie Cook. Burial followed in Antioch
Baptist Church Cemetery.
The
family received friends at the Cochran Funeral Home on
Saturday, February 27, 2010, from 5 until 9 PM.

Mrs.
Alice Katheleen Barnett, age 78, of Pine Crest Rd., Young Harris,
passed away
on Friday, Feb. 26, 2010 in the Kindred Hospital in Atlanta following
an
extended illness. Mrs. Barnett was born
on Feb. 12, 1932 in Greenville, MS, the daughter of the late Leroy Shaw
and the
late Lois Ellen Godbey Shaw. She had
worked for over twenty-two years with the Law Firm of Wood and Cobb. Alice was a member of the Clay County
Extension Group. She enjoyed making crafts. She also made quilts to be donated for fund
raisers for the Ronald McDonald House.
Mrs. Barnett was of the Protestant faith.
Surviving
Mrs. Barnett are her loving husband and best friend of fifty-five
years, Donald
Barnett of Young Harris, a host of neighbors and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on with the Rev.
officiating.
A memorial
service will be held at a later date and will be announced. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family
requests that memorials may be made to the Salvation army
in Mrs. Barnett’s memory.

Mr.
Ensley Gibson Jr., age 82, of Young Harris, GA passed away on Tuesday,
February
23, 2010 following a period of declining health. He
was born to the late Ensley, Sr. and Verse
(Ledford) Gibson on August 14, 1927 in Young Harris, GA.
He was preceded in death by a great
grandchild, Hayden Barrett.
He is
survived by his wife, Ruth Gibson, of Young Harris,
GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Roger Barrett, of
Greenville, SC;
Diane and Daniel Berrong, of Hiawassee, GA; son and daughter-in-law,
butch and
Vickie Gibson, of Blairsville, GA; eight grandchildren, thirteen great
grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Friday, February 26, 2010 at 2PM from the chapel
of
Banister Funeral Home, with Rev. Jimmy Rogers and Rev. Lester Sutton
officiating. Music was provided by the
Eagle Mtn. Quartet. Pallbearers were:
Mark Barrett, Chad Barrett, Michael West, John Landress, Wayne
Canterbury and
Clinton Hall. Interment was in Old Union
Baptist Church Cemetery.
