Mr.
Dennis Paul Dickson, age 62 of Hiawassee, GA, passed away Saturday,
March 1,
2007 at his residence. Mr. Dickson was
born Monday, April 30, 1945 in Cook County, IL to the late Paul Dickson
and the
late Anne McGeehan. He was a member of
Sons of the American Legion.
Survivors
include: wife, Heidi Dickson of Hiawassee, GA; his best buddy, Bailey
Dickson
of Hiawassee, GA; daughter & son-in-law, Lori and Rob Schaar of
Schaumburg,
IL; daughter, Jessica Dickson; son, Scott Dickson of Schaumburg, IL;
granddaughter, Allison Schaar; grandson, Brandon Schaar; sister &
brother-in-law, Kathie and Jim O’Rourke of Chicago, IL; niece, Tracey
O’Rourke;
nephew and wife, Kevin and Angel O’Rourke; great-nieces, Amanda and
Stephanie
O’Rourke; many friends in Towns County, Massachusetts and Florida.
Memorial
services will be held Thursday, march 6, 2008 at 3 p.m. at the VFW Post

Mrs.
Lela Myrtle Sparks, age 92 of Young Harris, GA, passed away Friday,
February
29, 2008 at her residence. Mrs. Sparks
was born Sunday, March 14, 1915 in Towns County, GA to the late Virge
Groves
and the late Margaret Brown Groves. She
was a member of many Forks Baptist Church and was preceded in death by
husband,
Luther Sparks, son, Jimmy Sparks, daughters, Brenda and Stella Sparks.
Survivors
include: daughter & son-in-law, Margie and Max Payne of Brasstown,
NC;
daughter, Annie Stephens; daughter & son-in-law, Bernice and Lloyd
Henderson; daughter, Frances Sparks; daughter & son-in-law, Marilyn
and
Kenneth Ivester; daughter, Laura Stamey; daughter, patsy Harper all of
Young
Harris, GA; sisters, hazel Holloway of Gastonia, NC and Faye McAllister
of
Canton, OH: 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and a great-great
grandson.
Funeral
services were held Sunday, March 2, 2008 at 3:30 p.m. from the Many
Forks
Baptist Church with Rev. R.L. martin, Rev. Jr. Killian and Rev. Jimmy
Rogers
officiating. Music was provided by Nola
Nichols. Interment was in Many Forks
Baptist Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers
were: Odell Ivester, Jennings Ivester, Brian Ivester, Jeff Stamey,
Curtis
Stephens, Jamey Sparks, Brock Harper and Byron Harper.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that
donations may be made to Many Forks Cemetery Fund.

Edna
Garrett, age 99, of Hayesville, NC died Thursday, February 21, 2008 in
a Clay
County care center. A native of Towns
County, GA, she had lived in Clay County most of her life.
She was the daughter of the late Wesley W.
and Luna Gribble Hunter and the wife of the late Glemra Garrett, who
died in
1965. She was a homemaker and was a
member of the Pine grove Baptist Church.
Surviving
are a daughter, Wanda Mae Holmes of Hiawassee, GA; five sons, Aud W.,
Narvel
L., and Howard W. “Dobbin” Garrett all of Hayesville, Claude W. Garrett
of
Belmont, NC, and Flaud F. Garrett of Lowell, NC; three sisters, Ella
Mae Moody
of Buford, GA, and Hazel Hunter and Lois Hogsed both of Hiawassee, GA;
and nine
grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and two great great
grandchildren.
Funeral
services were held at 7 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2008 in the Chapel
of Ivie
Funeral Home, Hayesville with the Revs. Greg
Carroll and Mike
Forster officiating and Lydia Garrett speaking.
Interment was at 9 a.m. Sunday, February 24,
2008 in the Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Randall, Michael, and Warren Garrett, Dennis
and David
Penland, and David Duncan. Honorary
pallbearers were: Dale Penland and Chris West.
The family received friends from 5-6:45 Saturday evening at the
Ivie
Funeral Home, Hayesville prior to the services.
