howard wilburn gandy

 

Howard Wilburn Gandy, age 89, of Hiawassee, GA, passed away Monday, March 14, 2005.

Howard was born Monday, December 20, 1915 in Albany, TX.  He was the son of the late John and Carrie West Gandy and husband of the late Jewel Boatright Gandy.  He was a retired U.S. Army veteran having served in WWII, Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War.  He was a member of the Allegheny Lodge #114 F&AM, the Appalachian Shriner Club, the ALSIHAH Shriners and Roosevelt Memorial Church in Pine Mountain Valley, GA.

Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, Gerald Wayne and Lori Gandy of Smyrna, GA; son and daughter-9in-law, Daniel Alfred and Sandra Gandy of Ringgold, GA; daughter, Joyce Eileen Gandy of Blairsville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Howard and Jodi Gandy of Cumming, GA; sister, Louella Pointevant of Temple, TX; grandchildren. Josh Gandy, Kelly Hester, Cullen Gandy, Miller Gandy and Amber Ruiz; great grandchildren, Isabelle Hester and Madelyn Hester.

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 17, 2005 at 2 p.m. from Roosevelt Memorial Church with the Rev. Randy Oglesby officiating.  Interment followed in Roosevelt Memorial Church Cemetery with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

mrs. elinor puett white

 

Mrs. Elinor Puett White, age 77, of Gum Log Road, Young Harris, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2005 in the Murphy Medical Center Nursing Home following an extended illness.  Mrs. White was born on October 5, 1927 in Towns County, the daughter of the late J.M. Puett and the late Mary Leona Jackson Puett.  She was a native and lifelong resident of Towns County.  Before retiring she was employed with Owenby’s Manufacturing for several years.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and Horace Puett and her husband, Jay White who passed away in 2001.  Mrs. White was a member of the Old Brasstown Baptist Church

Surviving Mrs. White are two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and George Shook of young Harris, Jane and Mark Taylor of Turtletown, TN; two brothers, Bill Puett of Seymore, TN, Raymond Puett of Young Harris; four sisters, Clara Sue Greene of Clarkesville, GA, Margie Smith of Alburn Heights, MI, Vada Lea Hyten of Pontiac, MI, Becky Garrett of Murphy; grandchildren, Landon and Felisea Shook, Darrin and Angie Shook, Amber and Jacob Taylor; great grandchildren, Cheyanna, Brett, Madison, and Brieanna Shook, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, March 20, 2005 at 2 p.m. from the Old Brasstown Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Stiles officiating.  Interment followed in the church cemetery.
