bessie ann tatham cloer

 

Mrs. Bessie Ann Tatham Cloer, age 97, of Hiawassee passed away Saturday, March 20, 2004 in the Chatuge Regional Hospital in Hiawassee.  She was born March 14, 1907 in Macon County, North Carolina in the Rainbow Springs area.  The Tatham family relocated to Towns County, Georgia in 1913, settling in the Crooked Creek area.  Mrs. Cloer was a member of the Woods Grove Baptist Church.  She was also a member of the Towns County Seniors club and was a longtime quilter at the Georgia Mountain Fair.  She enjoyed many hobbies and excelled in quilting and ceramics.  Mrs. Cloer was an avid gardener and never met a flower she did not like or could not grow.  Her motto was “try, try again – I’ll do it right the next time!”  She also enjoyed family times and had traveled to several foreign countries including the Hold Land.

Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, Carl W. and Ruth Cloer of Young Harris, GA; son and daughter-in-law Bob and Margaret Cloer of Atlanta; daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Nick Norwood of Jackson, MS: and sister, Jessie Bradshaw of Young Harris; 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 22, 2004 at 2:00 pm from the Chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee with Rev. Harold Sangster, Rev. Troy Acree and Rev. Danny Burch officiating.  Serving as pallbearers were Clifton Nichols, Gregg Cloer, Mike Cloer, Chris Patterson, Mark Franklin and Michael Cameron.  Interment was in the Woods Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Cloer.
