Mr. Edwin
George Shaw, age 86, of Hillcrest drive, Hiawassee, passed away on
Tuesday,
March 17, 2009 at his home following a brief illness.
Mr. Shaw was born on June 28, 1922 in Toledo,
OH, the son of the late George Stanley Shaw and the late Mildred
Thompson
Shaw. He was a veteran of the US
Army. He retired with over thirty years
of employment with CBS Channel 13 in Tampa, FL.
Edwin was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. Shaw in 2004. Mr. Shaw was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving Mr.
Shaw are one daughter and son-in-law, Edwina and Robert Fimbel of Lutz,
FL, two
grandchildren, David M. Fimbel, Michelle D. Fimbel, two great
grandchildren,
Peyton M. Fimbel and Pierce T. Fimbel, many other relatives and friends
also
survive.
No services
are planned at this time. In lieu of
flowers
if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to a
favorite
charity of your choice in memory of Mr. Shaw.

Mrs.
Della “Ree” Marie Young, age 88, of Old School House Rd, Young Harris,
passed
away on Tuesday, march 17, 2009 in the
Union General
Hospital following an extended illness following a brief illness. Mrs. Young was born on Dec. 20, 1920 in Towns
County, the daughter of the late Harrison Shook and the late Verdia
Arrowood. She was a native and lifelong
resident of Towns County. She was a
loving mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband,
Lawrence Young, four daughters, Dorothy, Hildred, Mildred and Helen
young, four
grandchildren, Sarah, Sabrina, Dwayne and Michael.
Mrs. Young was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mrs.
Young are one daughter, Kathy and Sonny Hamilton of Clarkesville, six
sons and
four daughters-in-law, Ray L. and Opal Young of Blairsville, Tony and
Charlotte
Young, Jerry Young, Dennis and Joy Young, Dwight and Debbie Young and
Gary
Young, all of Young Harris, two sisters, Opal Ingram of Young Harris,
Ida Keys
of Hiawassee, nine grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren, many
other
relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 11 Am from the
Mountain View
Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Seay and Rev. Jeff Young officiating. Special music was presented by Charlotte
Young and Tim and Carol Renshaw. The
following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Jerick, Justin and William
Young,
Damon Youngblood, Dustan and Jason Young, Larry Brown and Frank Collins. Interment followed in the Pine Log
Cemetery. The family met with friends at
the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-9 PM.

Mrs.
Ann Stephens, age 73, of Gum Log R, Young Harris, passed away on
Tuesday, march 17, 2009 at her home
following an extended illness. Mrs.
Stephens was born on Jan. 11, 1936 in
Murphy, NC, the daughter of Lela Myrtle
Sparks. Ann was a lifelong resident of
Towns
County. She was a loving mother,
grandmother, great grandmother and sister.
Ann enjoyed walking as a past time.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thedford Stephens, a
sister,
Stella K. Sparks and a brother, Jim sparks.
Mrs. Stephens was a member of Many Forks Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs.
Stephens are two daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki and J.R. Berrong of
Young
Harris, Pam and Keith Hedden of Young Harris, one son and
daughter-in-law,
Curtis and Teresa Stephens of Young Harris, six sisters, Margie Payne
of
Brasstown, NC, Marilyn Ivester of Pine Log, Bernice Henderson, Laura
Stamey,
Patsy Harper and Frances Sparks all of Gum Log, six grandchildren, brad
and
Dustin Stephens, Shasta Huffman, Shanlee Berry, Wesley Stephens and
Courtney
Stephens, one great grandchild, River Huffman, many other relatives and
friends
also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 11 AM from the Many
Forks
Baptist Church with Rev. R.L. Martin and Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating.
Special music was presented by Mike
Garrett. The following gentlemen served
as pallbearers, Dustin Stephens, Wesley Stephens, Jamey Sparks, Jeff
Stamey,
Brock Harper and Odell Ivester. Serving
as honorary pallbearers were George Henderson and Barry Huffman. Interment followed in the church
cemetery. The family met with friends at
the Many Forks Church on Wednesday evening after 6 PM.
