harold irwin frizzell

 

Mr. Harold Irwin Frizzell, age 83, of Spring Cove Ln., Young Harris, passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2007 at his home following a brief illness.  Mr. Frizzell was born on September 19, 1923 in Centerville, OH, the son of the late Irwin Frizzell and the late Cora Hazel Rosell Frizzell.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force of WWII.  He retired in 1985 from the Nationwide Insurance Company.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  Mr. Frizzell was an active member of Sharp memorial United Methodist Church.

Surviving Mr. Frizzell are his loving wife of twenty-four years, Margaret Price Frizzell of Young Harris; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Dawn Frizzell; one daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Dave Archdeacon; grandchildren, Shannon Crone, Alison Frizzell, Tracy Barnhart, Erin Eve; great-grandchildren, Peyton Eve, Gracie Eve, and Garrett Barnhart, all of Miamisburg, OH; many other relatives and friends also survive.

A celebration of life service will be held in Ohio at a later date.  The family requests to omit flowers and make contributions to the “Bill Chenault Bus Fund” Sharp memorial united Methodist Church, PO Box 66, Young Harris, GA 30582 in Mr. Frizzell’s memory.

peggy sue smith long

 

Peggy Sue Smith Long, age 42, of Hiawassee, GA, passed away on march 24, 2007 following a period of declining health.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Rev. Willard & Tilda McCray of Hayesville, NC and Mr. Roscoe & Ruth Smith of Young Harris GA.  She was a member of West Union Baptist Church.  She was born on January 10, 1965 in Towns County, GA.

She is survived by her parents, Cline & Nora Smith of Young Harris, GA; son, Casey Long of Blairsville, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Robin Smith of Hiawassee, Edwin and Cathy Smith of Blairsville, Johnny and Misty Smith of Warne, NC; sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Tommy Tanner of Blairsville; two nieces; seven nephews; one great-niece; and one great-nephew also survive.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 26, 2007 from West Union Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Young, Rev. Harold Ledford, and Rev. James Lee officiating.  Music was provided by West Union Church choir.  Pallbearers were Randy Smith, Christopher Smith, Jason Matheson, Tony Dockery, Nathan Noblet, James Rogers, and mark King.  Honorary pallbearers were Fred Shook, Phillip Brown, and Brian Underwood.  Interment was in Victory Baptist Church Cemetery.

blanche hogsed palmer

 

Mrs. Blanche Hogsed Palmer, age 92 of Hiawassee and formerly of Atlanta, GA and Hayesville, NC, passed away on March 21, 2007 following a period of declining health.  She was born to the late Alex and Lizzie McClure palmer on August 27, 1914 in Clay County, NC.  She was preceded in death by he husband, Mr. Donald B. palmer; daughter, Carolyn Palmer; brother, Guy Hogsed; sister, Addie Ledford; and granddaughter, Shawn Rhea Palmer.

She is survived by her daughter, Katherine Palmer of Hiawassee, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Lois Palmer of Hiawassee, GA; brothers Lake and France Hogsed both of Hiawassee, GA; foster granddaughters, Debbie Philips and Connie Carter; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 24, 2007 at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Banister Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating.  Pallbearers were John Nations, Ike Waldroup, Jimmy Hogsed, Johnny Hogsed, Rudy Roach, and David Phillips.  Music was provided by Claudette and Matt Griffin, Jeannie Miles, and Becky Underwood.  Honorary pallbearers were Larry Owenby, Steve Payne, Wes Hooper, and Jeff Scott. Interment was in Enotah Cemetery.

paris d. handy

 

Mr. Paris D. Handy, age 80, of Crane Creek Young Harris, GA, passed away on Tuesday, march 20, 2007 at his home following an extended illness.  Mr.  Handy was born on December 15, 1926 in Towns County, the son of the late Lloyd R. handy and the late Ethel I. Hooper handy.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army of the Korean War.  Paris was an old car enthusiast.  He also loved nature and enjoyed fishing.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Geneva H. Kuykendall.  Mr. Handy was a member of West Union Baptist Church.

Surviving Mr. handy are his loving wife of fifty-two years, Dorothy may Miller Handy of Young Harris; one daughter and son-in-law, Danita and Paul Janson of Maryville, TN; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Dennis Handy of Young Harris, Donn and Stephany Handy of Ashville, NC Mark and Robin Handy of Young Harris; one brother and sister-in-law, Hubert and Oleta Handy of young Harris, five grandchildren, Tayha, Stephen, Cody, Cary and Lloyd; several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Friday, march 23, 2007 at 11 a.m. from the Old Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Lester Sutton and pastor Mark Handy officiating.  Special music was presented by Terry Hooper.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, David Kuykendall, Dennis handy, Donn Handy, Mark handy, Russ Cain and Stephen Janson.  The following gentlemen served as honorary pallbearers, Bill Homan, Max Hooper and James Howell.  In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family requests that you may plant a tree or commit a random act of kindness in Mr. Handy’s memory.  Interment followed in the church cemetery with the North Georgia Honor Guard conducting Military Honors.

roger clark parmer

 

Mr. Roger Clark Parmer, age 66, of Sunset Drive E., Young Harris, passed away on Saturday, march 24, 2007 at his home following a brief illness.  Mr. Parmer was born on May 24, 1940 in LaGrange, GA, the son of the late Henry Parmer and the late Pearl Prestridge Parmer.  Mr. Parmer was a Teacher and had taught at Young Harris College from 1986-1992, and also had taught at Plano E. Sr. High.  He retired in 2005.  He was always easy going and always had a smile on his face.  Roger was a loving husband and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  Mr. Parmer attended Sharp Memorial united Methodist Church.

Surviving Mr. Parmer are his loving wife of forty-five years, Janice Hubbard Parmer of Young Harris; one sister and brother-in-law, Aillen and Bill Stephenson of Lithonia GA; several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Memorial services were held on Tuesday, march 27, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the Sharp memorial united Methodist Church with the Rev. John Kay officiating.  IN lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Sharp Memorial Church in Mr. Parmer’s memory.  The family met with friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6-9 p.m.

harold thornton williamson

 

Mr. Harold Thornton Williamson, age 81, of Hiawassee, GA died Thursday, March 22, 2007.  A retired Supervisor with Atlanta Gas Light Company with 40 years of experience, Mr. Williamson was a member and former deacon McConnell Memorial Baptist Church, a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran, a Mason, and a former Lions Club member.

Daddy will forever be remembered as a true gentleman with a big heart and a man who always lived by the “Golden Rule.”  He always treated those around him with diplomacy, kindness, and respect.  He was a great influence on his daughters and taught us to live honest and decent lives as individuals while always trying to be sensitive to the needs of those around us.  Our Daddy and Mother together were our best teachers and mentors of how to live our lives the way God intended.  Daddy will be sorely missed and live on in our hearts and minds forever.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Jean Woodall Williamson of Hiawassee; daughters and son-in-law, Jan W. Johnson of Stockbridge, Lynn W. Jones of Snellville, Ann W. & Greg Haymons of Locust Grove; sister, Janice Harris of Atlanta; grandchildren, Lori, Valerie, Kelly, Amy, Will, and Luke; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 niece, 1 nephew, and several cousins also survive.

Memorial services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 25, 2007 at McConnell memorial Baptist Church, Hiawassee, GA with Dr. E. Rudy Patton officiating.  IN lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to McConnell memorial Baptist Church, 84 Church Street, Hiawassee, GA 30546.
