mr. vernond charles alferink, sr.

 

Vernon Charles Alferink, Sr., age 68, of Young Harris, GA passed away on march 23, 2005 in Chatuge Regional Nursing Home following an extended illness.  He was born to the late William and Florence (Olson) Alferink on February 17, 1937 in Ashtabula County, OH.  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Shirley Alferink, of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Greg Stalvey, of Hiawassee, GA; Jodi and John Topolka, of Miami, FL; and daughter, Elizabeth Alferink, of Hiawassee, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Vernon and Julie Alferink, Jr., of Hiawassee, GA; Jerry and Andra Alferink, Jr., of Young Harris, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Roger Emery, of north Kingsville, OH; thirteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.  Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge of arrangements.

mrs. irene dover

 

Mrs. Irene Dover, age 83, of Hiawassee, GA passed away Sunday, march 27, 2005 following a period of declining health.  Mrs. Dover was born in Towns County the daughter of the late Albert and Cordie Maney Shook.  Surviving are two daughters: Mary Sims of Marietta, GA and Tabitha Thomason of Dahlonega, GA; sons: Terry Dover of Clarkesville, GA and Tim Dover of Douglasville, GA; brother Floyd Shook of Gainesville, GA; sisters: Erma Eller of Hayesville, NC, Hershey Willson of Hiawassee, GA; 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.  Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 29, 2005 from the chapel of the Banister Funeral Home with the Rev. Jarvis Bennett and the Rev. Glen Eller officiating.  Music was provided by Sheila and Glen Eller.   Interment was in the Boyds Chapel Cemetery.  Pallbearers were: Eric Dover, Casey Dover, Joe Anderson, Donald Shook, William Shook and Guy Eller.  Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge of arrangements.

mrs. blanche rakestraw

 

Mrs. Blanche Rakestraw, age 82, of Hiawassee, GA passed away March 27, 2005 following a period of declining health.  Mrs. Rakestraw was born in Union County, GA the daughter of the late Carl and Minnie Bell Ledford Hidden.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Gene Rakestraw.  She had lived in Hiawassee for the past 30 years, moving here from Marietta, GA.  She was of the Baptist faith.  Surviving are her son, Mr. Roger Wayne Young, of Palm Coast, FL; step sisters, Mrs. Wilma Davenport of Blairsville, GA; Mrs. Betty Rose Bridges of Blairsville, GA; grandchildren, Mr. Brett Young, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Mr. James Young, of Clearwater, FL; Ms. Heather Young, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.  Graveside services were held Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at Kennesaw memorial Park in Marietta, GA with the Rev. Jerry Young officiating.  Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge of arrangements.
