Josephine DiLavore, age 92, of Hiawassee, passed away Monday, March 28, 2005 in Chatuge Regional Nursing Home in Hiawassee.

Josephine was born in Lawrence, Mass., on January 20, 1913 to Philip and Santa (Traina) DiLavore.  She had made her home with her sister, Ann, for most of her live, Josephine moved to Hiawassee 20 years ago along with her sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Joe McCook, form Miramar, FL.  She was a member of Methuen United Methodist Church in Methuen, Mass., but attended Hiawassee United Methodist Church.

Survivors include: sister, Rose Krikorian of Salem, NH; brother, Salvatore DiLavore of Lake Placid, FL; sister, Ann McCook of Hiawassee, GA, many nieces, nephews and godchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 2, 2005 at 11 a.m. from Hiawassee United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Blair officiating.  Music was provided by Hope Horkavy and Duane Miller.  Interment was in Union Memory Gardens.  Pallbearers were Bill Coffman, Bob Duren, Bill Fullington, Bill Klug, John Martin, Duane Miller.

mr. richard l. pelham

 

Mr. Richard L. Pelham, age 54, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2005.

The funeral service was held on Saturday, April 2, 2005 at 2 p.m. at McConnell Baptist Church in Hiawassee, GA with Dr. Rudy Patton officiating.  Interment was in Laurel Hills Memory Garden.

Mr. Pelham was born in Bonifay, Fl and resided in Tallahassee, FL and Hiawassee, GA.

He was a developer and was active as the chairman of the Towns County Tourism Board, Chamber of Commerce Board, and Board Member of The Mountain Arts Association.  He was also a supporter of area youth projects and took great pride in starting and sponsoring the Lake Chatuge Clean-up.  He was also a FSU fan and a Golden Chief.  Richard and his wife, Dana are owners of the Fieldstone Resort and Restaurant in Hiawassee, GA.

Survivors include his loving wife Dana; one son, Michael Pelham and wife Danielle; grandsons, Nicholas and Zachary; mother, Annie Pelham; mother-in-law, Lil Hassfurder; 3 brothers, Tom, Bruce and Stan Pelham; and one sister, Sherri Pelham.  Also, numerous nieces and nephews.
