arnold wade sampson

 

Mr. Arnold Wade Sampson, age 74, of Young Harris passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2004 in the Chatuge Regional Nursing Home following an extended illness.  Mr. Sampson was born on July 12, 1929 in Towns County, the son of the late William Perry Sampson and the late Cora Bell Howell Sampson.  He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Glenn Rogers.  Mr. Sampson was a member of Old Union Baptist Church.

Surviving Mr. Sampson is a daughter, Barbara Jean Green of Mineral Bluff, Georgia; a son, Wade Sampson of Millen, Georgia; a sister, Willie Lois Rogers of Hiawassee, Georgia; a brother and sister-in-law, U.E. and Dorothy Sampson of Young Harris, Georgia; two grandchildren, Priscilla Mae Brown, Kimberly Ann Brown; four great grandchildren, Damian Brown, Jacob Brown, Kyndra Brown and Michael Bice Brown; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Monday, April 12, 2004 from the West Union Baptist Church with Rev. Harold Ledford and Rev. Jerry Young officiating.  Special music was presented by Melvin and Phillip Sampson.  The following gentlemen served as Pallbearers Phillip Sampson, Bert Rogers, Gene Rogers, Ernie Sellers, Maurice Erwin and Lamar Sampson.  Serving as Honorary Pallbearers were Grady Sellers, Tamar Thompson, Donnie Low, Mr. Robert Howell and Melvin Sampson.  Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville was in charge of the arrangements.

MR. JAY B. BECK

 

Mr. Jay B. Beck, age 76, of Hiawassee, Georgia passed away April 3, 2004 in the Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a period of declining health.  He was born to the late Jim and Bertha (Berrong) Beck on February 22, 1928 in Towns County, GA.  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sue Beck of Hiawassee, GA; three sons, Mr. Wesley Beck, Mr. Dwayne Beck and Mr. Jamie Beck, all of Hiawassee, GA; one sister, Geneva Garrett, also of Hiawassee, GA; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were from the Chapel of Banister Funeral Home on Monday, April 5, 2004 with the rev. Harold Ledford officiating.  Music was provided by The Macedonians.  Pallbearers were: Walt Forester, Archie Chastain, Aaron Beck, Christopher Beck, Neal Dover and Curtis Dover.  The North Georgia Honor Guard conducted the graveside services.  Interment was in the Macedonia Cemetery.

Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee was in charge of arrangements.

rev. bradley lee knight

 

Rev. Bradley Lee Knight, age 67, of Young Harris, GA passed away Friday, April 9, 2004 following a brief illness.  He was born in Fulton County, GA the son of Walter and Grace (Bradley) Knight on September 13, 1936.

Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Grace Knight of Hiawassee, GA; wife, Mrs. Flora Hughes Knight of Young Harris, GA; daughter, Sherri Haggerty of piedmont, SC; sons and daughters-in-law, Bradley and Lisa Knight of Douglasville, GA; Kenneth and Caroline Knight of Hiawassee, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Ralph Grady of Hiawassee, GA; aunt, Molly Presley Akins of Hiawassee, GA; five grandchildren, Heather Burgess, Brandi and Lacey Haggerty, and Brandon and Lindsay Knight; five great grandchildren, Justin, Bradley, and Christopher Burgess, and Journey and Destiny Waiters also survive.

Funeral services were held on Monday, April 12, 2004 at 3:00 pm from Old Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Rogers and the Rev. Max Barlow officiating.  Music was provided by Dorothy Sampson, Ricky Rogers, Chyrll Holder and Becky and Ken Miller.  In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in memory of Rev. Knight be made to Old Union Baptist Church.  Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge of arrangements.
