walter perrin andrews

 

Dr. Walter Perrin Andrews, age 84, of Hiawassee, Georgia passed away Thursday, April 15, 2004 in Chatuge Regional Hospital, following an extended illness.  He was a graduate of Young Harris College and of the Emory School of Dentistry.  During World War II he served as a dentist and acquired the rank of Captain.  In 1960, Dr. Andrews set up a dental practice and was the only dentist in this local area for many years.  He was born to the late William Walter and Bessie (Timms) Andrews on December 13, 1919 in DeKalb County, Georgia.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dottie Lou Andrews of Hiawassee, GA; one daughter, Mrs. Lisa Hulsey, of Gainesville, GA; to grandchildren, Michelle and Jason Hulsey, of Gainesville, GA.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 17, 2004 from Sharp Memorial Methodist Church with the Rev. John Kay and Rev. Sami Ammari officiating.  Pallbearers were Walter Roberts, Frank Kirby, Jimmy Taft, Clay Dotson, John Smith and George “Bud” Dyer.  Honorary Pallbearers were Steve Holmes, Charles Mooney, Harvey Windsor and Henry Hedden.  Interment was in Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee was in charge of arrangements.

ruby lee shook

 

Ruby Lee Shook, age 77, of Hiawassee, Georgia passed away April 15, 2004 in Chatuge Regional Nursing Home, following an extended illness.  She was preceded in death by her husband, F.B. Shook, Sr., sons, Ronnie Dillard and Henry Lee Shook.  She was born to the late John and Elsie (McAllister) Dillard on September 3, 1926 in McMinn County, TN.

She is survived by two daughters, Sandy Foster, of Hiawassee, GA., Margaret Shook, of Palmetto, GA; a son, Michael Shook of Okeechobee, FL; three stepsons, Truett Shook of Hiawassee, GA., Alex Shook of Lucasville, OH., and F.B. Shook, Jr. of Winder, GA; three stepdaughters, Brenda Baker of Hiawassee, GA., Estelle Sanders of Hiawassee, GA., and Margie Nicholson of Parachute, CO; three sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Dillard of Cramerton, NC., Sue Dillard of Cramerton, NC., and Lois Dillard of Gastonia, NC; one brother-in-law, Lee Hinson, Jr., of Charlotte, NC; seven grandchildren; sixteen step-grandchildren; twenty five step great grandchildren; four step great, great grandchildren.  A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 17, 2004 from the Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Stanley McConnell officiating.  Music was provided by Jimmy and Johnny Hogsed.  Pallbearers were grandsons, Jamie McClure, Bryce Shook, Tony Shook, Keith Shook, Greg Shook and Marty Sanders.  Interment was in Lower Bell Creek Cemetery.

mr. dale lee kuykendall

 

Mr. Dale Lee Kuykendall, age 45, of Young Harris, GA passed away Friday, April 16, 2004 following a brief illness.  He was born in Towns County, GA on July 12, 1958.  He worked with the City of Young Harris as a water superintendent.

He is survived by his parents, Allen & Viola (Dills) Kuykendall, of Young Harris, GA; wife, Frances Kuykendall, of Young Harris, GA; two brothers, David and Danny Kuykendall, both of Young Harris, GA.

Funeral services were held on April 19, 2004 at 2 p.m. from Old Union Baptist Church with the Rev. William Lee and the Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating.  Interment was in the Kuykendall Family Cemetery.

clarence “parse” treumer

 

Mr. Clarence “Parse” Treumer, age 82, of Hiawassee, Georgia passed away Friday, April 9, 2004.

Mr. Treumer was born in McGrath, MN, a son of the late Edward and Karen Laugerson Treumer.  A resident of Minnesota until 1970; Richmond, VA., until 1977; W. Palm Beach, FL., until 1997.  Mr. Treumer currently lived in Hiawassee, GA.

Parse was a World War II Army veteran and he joined other forces in serving in the first organization of Rangers.  He served in the North African, Sicilian and Italian campaigns.

Mr. Treumer retired in 1977 as Virginia’s Assistant State Conservationist and a member of ARSCSE; a member of the Lion’s Club; a member and former Master of the Masonic Lodge and was active in several Royal Orders in MN.  Mr. Treumer was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Hayesville, NC.

Surviving is his wife, Theresa, of Hiawassee; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Melanie Treumer of Skandia, MI; daughter, Pamela Treumer of Duluth, MN and daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Ronald “Pug” Mahan of Farmville, VA; three step children; a sister, Helen Rosell of Sacramento, CA; a brother, Howard Treumer of North Fork, CA; 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews also survive.

Memorial services are scheduled for Friday noon, April 30, 2004 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Father George Kloster officiating.  Burial will be in Hutchenson, MN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, in Hayesville, NC.

Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee was entrusted by the family for the arrangements.
