william “bill” harrell

 

William “Bill” Harrell, age 74, of Hiawassee, GA, formerly of Franklin, NC, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2007.  A native of Sweetwater, TN, he was the son of the late Albert jack Harrell and Virginia Moore Harrell.  Bill and his wife Ester owned and operated I.G.A. Grocery Stores for many years.  They currently own and operated Huddle House Restaurants in North Carolina and Georgia.  Bill attended the Freewill Baptist Church, Hayesville, NC.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ester Mae Burnette Harrell; two sons, Rev. Rick Harrell and wife Frances of Franklin and Jay Harrell of Hiawassee, GA; five grandchildren, Bill Harrell and wife Patti, Blake Harrell and wife Diona, Evan Harrell, Justin Harrell and Cindy Harrell Christie and husband Tony; and two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Tyler Harrell.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2007 in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home with Rev. Hank Conner, Rev. Lee Wright, Rev. Alan Taylor and Rev. Chris Rumfeld officiating.  Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery.  The family received friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at Macon Funeral Home.  Pallbearers were Bill Harrell, Blake Harrell, Evan Harrell, Justin Harrell, Tony Christie and Jim Clouse.

raye lockaby owenby

 

Mrs. Raye L. Owenby, age 88, of Hiawassee, GA passed away on Friday, April 27, 2007 following a period of declining health.  She was born to the late Venlow and Laura Gregory Lockaby on June 7, 1918 in Towns County, GA.

She is survived by her daughters, Ann Johnstone of Hiawassee, Shirley Garrett of Hayesville, NC; sons, Truett Owenby of Hiawassee, Truman Owenby of Lawrenceville, GA; brother, Roy Lockaby of Blairsville, GA; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held Sunday, April 29, 2007 at 3 p.m. from Mt. Pleasant Church of God with Rev. Jarvis Bennett and Rev. Terry Eller officiating. Pallbearers were Leon Berrong, Bruce Berrong, DeWitt Ber-rong, Terry Owenby, Randy Owenby, and Bobby Reynolds.  Music was provided by Glen and Shelia Eller.  Interment was in Boyd’s Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Mable Franks, age 77, of Hiawassee, GA passed away on April 16, 2007 following a period of declining health.  She was born to the late Thomas and Era Youngblood Wheeler on may 2, 1929 in Towns County, GA

She is survived by daughters, Katie Colvin of Monticello, GA, Kathy Simmons of Marietta, GA, Rita Cross of Hayesville, NC; sons, Ronny Franks of Hiawassee, GA, Ricky Franks of Hiawassee, GA; sisters Della Roach of Hiawassee, GA, Ruby Abernathy of Helen, GA, Frankie Dye of Ohio; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at 2 p.m. from Lower Hightower Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Burch officiating.  Pallbearers were Charles Ledford, Royce Nichols, Mark Allen, Kevin Bradshaw, Brandon Cook, and Dwight Swanson.  Interment was in Osborn Cemetery.
