Mr. Marvin Kenneth “Ken” Copeland, age 78 of Hiawassee, GA passed away on May 10, 2005 following an extended illness.  He was born to the late Marvin Christopher & Pearl (York) Copeland on March 11, 1927 in Fulton County, GA.  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Roberta Copeland, of Hiawassee, GA; daughter & son-in-law, Denise Copeland & John Matthew Cooper, of Lawrenceville, GA; one granddaughter, Miss Alysia Cheyenne Cooper, also of Lawrenceville, GA.  A number of nieces & nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held at Banister Funeral Home on May 11, 2005 at 7:30 p.m. with Rev. Harold Ledford officiating.  Graveside services were held at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens Cemetery in Snellville, GA from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. with Rev. Arnold Brown officiating.  Music was provided by Ulysses & Dorothy Sampson.  Pallbearers were State Patrol Honor Guard.  Interment was in Eternal Hills Memory Garden Cemetery in Snellville, GA.   Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge of arrangements.

mr. joel jack dayton

 

Mr. Joel Jack Dayton, age 68, of Hiawassee, GA passed away on May 14, 2005 following an extended illness.  He was born to the late Cline and Ruth (Moss) Dayton on September 12, 1936 in Towns County, GA.  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sue Dayton, of Hiawassee, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Faron King of Hiawassee, GA; son and daughter-in-law Cameron and Patty Dayton of Hiawassee, GA; brothers, Knox Dayton of Hiram, GA, and Hugh Dayton of Smyrna, GA; sisters, Wanda Rumfelt of Lenoir City, TN, Wilda Bishop of Hiawassee, GA, and Madge Oswald, of Anchorage, AK.  A number of nieces and nephews also survive.  Funeral services were held on May 16, 2005 at 2 p.m. from Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Harold Ledford, and Rev. Danny Burch officiating.  Pallbearers were Clyde Shook, Wayde Nicholson, Cecil Dye, Bill Hyatt, Terry Taylor, and Jerry Nichols.  Honorary pallbearers were Audie Bradley, Judge David Barrett and Lamar Paris.  Eulogies were presented by Cecil Dye and Rebecca King.  Interment was in Macedonia Baptist Church cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Towns County Ambulance fund Raiser Fund.   Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge of arrangements.

margie nell lee

 

Margie Nell Lee, age 79, of Hiawassee, GA, passed away Monday, May 9, 2005 at her residence.

Margie was born Saturday, September 19, 1925, in Habersham County, GA, to the late Ernest Harrison Nichols and the late Maud Elizabeth Lyons Nichols.  She was the wife of the late Frank Wayne Lee and sister to the late Suti Nichols.

Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, Marc and Carolyn Lee of Woodstock, GA; son and daughter-in-law, James and Ida Lee of Candler, NC; daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and David Adams of Cumming, GA; grandson, Todd Adams, grandson, Patrick Adams, grandson, Justin Lee, granddaughter, Riahna Lee, great granddaughter, Arien Lee; sister, Lena Henson of Hiawassee, GA; brother, Louie Nichols of Hayesville, NC; sister, Frances Richardson of Buford, GA; sister, Shirley Clayton of Kissimmee, FL, several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held Saturday, May 14, 2005 at 2 p.m. from the Cochran Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Wallace Preast officiating.  Music was provided by Becky Wallace and Bridget Hastings.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity.

karen marie hogsed

 

Karen Marie Hogsed, age 48, of Lawrenceville GA, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2005

Karen was born Tuesday, April 9, 1957.  She was a waitress at Red Lobster and a member of North Mt. Zion Church of God.

Survivors include: husband, Larry Hogsed of the home; daughter, Kristy Kennedy of lake Isabella, CA; step son, Brandon Hogsed of Lawrenceville, GA; mother and step father, Margaret and Leonard Wilson of Auburn, GA; father, Frank Dufva of Las Vegas, NV; brother, Gerald Dufva of Reno, NV and granddaughter, Shae Hogsed.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 16, 2005 at 11 a.m. from Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Raburne Wilson and Rev. Glen Eller officiating.  Pallbearers were Gerald Dufva, Edwin Arrowood, Larry Hedden, Bill Myers, Jerry Rogers and Rex Patterson.  Interment was in Lower Bell Creek Baptist Cemetery.
