mr. boyd l. hunter

 

Mr. Boyd L. Hunter, age 90, of Hiawassee, GA, passed away Monday, May 10, 2004, at his home.

Mr. Hunter was born August 27, 1913 in Cherokee County, NC, a son of the late William Wesley and Luna Gribble Hunter, but had lived here all of his life.  He was a retired farmer.  Mr. Hunter was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.  Mr. Hunter was married to Corene Arrowood on July 30, 1945.  He had been a deacon for over sixty years.  He was preceded in death by a daughter, Hilda Joan Hunter.

Survivors include: his wife, Corene Hunter of Hiawassee, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Jackie and Judy Hunter of Hiawassee, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Rudy Eller and Melba and Danny Blythe all of Hiawassee, GA; sisters; Edna Garrett of Hayesville, NC, Hazel Penland and Lois Hogsed both of Hiawassee, GA and Ella Mae Moody of Buford, GA; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 12, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Burgess, Rev. Roger Townley, Rev. Ricky Burrell and Deacon Randall McConnell officiating.  Music was by the Eagle Mountain Quartet.  Pallbearers were Narvel Garrett, Chester Moody, Anthony Hunter, David Penland, Bruce Bradley and Rex Hogsed.  Honorary pallbearers were Artis Owenby, Phil Hunter, Bernard Moody and Rex Burrell.

mrs. mae ruth dills

 

Mrs. Mae Dills, age 77 of Toccoa, GA. Passed away Wednesday, may 12, 2004.  Mrs. Dills was born in Towns County, the daughter of the late Garner Dills and Cleo Ledford Dills Nations.  She had lived most of her life in Stephens County.  Survivors include three daughters: Shirley Ray, Frankie Garner and Patricia Lowery all of Toccoa, GA; four sisters: Lougean Taylor of Hiawassee, GA, Margaret Dockery of Murphy, NC, Margie Elrod and Barbara Neil Cantrell both of Helen, GA; three brothers: Frank Dills of Hiawassee, GA, John Nations of Sugar Hill, GA and Jack Nations of Hiawassee, GA.  Six grandchildren 12 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.  Graveside services were held Friday, may 14, 2004, at 11:00 AM at the Stephens Memorial Gardens in Toccoa, GA with the Rev. Chris Ayers officiating.  Whitlock Mortuary in charge arrangements.
