Mr. Buddy Allen Shook, age 49, of Young Harris, GA passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2005.

Mr. Shook was born June 12, 1955 in Towns County, GA.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran.  Mr. Shook was preceded in death by brother, Randy Shook.

Survivors include: wife, Shirley Shook of Hayesville, NC; son, Joshua Shook of Hayesville, NC; parents, J.W. and Shirley (McClure) Shook of Young Harris, GA; sisters, Delores Mason of Blairsville, GA, Michelle Arrowood of Hiawassee, GA, Christi Schafer of Blairsville, GA; brothers, Larry Shook and Danny Shook both of Young Harris, GA; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Sunday, May 29, 2005 at 2 p.m. from the Many Forks Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Ashe officiating.  Music was provided by Mike Garrett and the Troy Phillips Family.  Interment was in many Forks Baptist Cemetery.  Pallbearers were John Gibson, Josh Shook, Stacy Moss, Nathan Ellis, Terence Shook, Trevor Shook.

lisa hampton hargrove

 

Lisa Hampton Hargrove, 67, of Hiawassee and formerly of Atlanta, died May 25, 2005.  She is survived by her husband, James Lauren Hargrove; daughters, Helen Elizabeth Hampton, Dana Hampton Cohen, Hollis Hampton-Jones; grandchildren, Hettie, Michael, Matthew, Deirdre, Logan; and brother, John Beverly Peterson.  Funeral services were Saturday, may 28, 2005 at 11:30 a.m. at Saint martin in the Fields Episcopal Church in Atlanta.  Interment followed at Arlington memorial park in Atlanta.  Flowers are appreciated or contributions may be made to Portsbridge Hospice, 4598 Barclay Dr., Dunwoody, GA 30338.  An online memorial may be viewed at www.mem.com.  Arrangements by H.M. Mr. Donald W. Sampson, age 73, of Young Harris, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2005 following a period of declining health.

Mr. Sampson was born in Towns County a son of the late Worth and Ella Puett Sampson.  He retired from General Motors Corp.  Mr. Sampson was a member of Stephens Masonic Lodge #414 F&AM and Old Brasstown Baptist Church

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Betty Jo Sampson of Young Harris, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Jeri Denise and Joseph Harvey deGrom, and Pansy Kay and Terry Leon Ramey all of Atlanta, GA; granddaughter, Jessica Jo Ramey of Atlanta, GA; grandson, Jake Sampson Ramey of Atlanta, GA; grandson, Donny Kevin George of Atlanta, GA; great granddaughter, Madison Alissa George of Atlanta, GA; sister, Edna Earl Nelson of Blairsville, GA; brother, Tommy Sampson of Michigan; sister, Lula Mae Quertermous of Michigan; sister, Glenda Cypret of Michigan.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at 2 p.m. from the Old Brasstown Baptist Church with Rev. Ricky Rogers officiating.  Music was provided by Tommy Townsend.  Interment was in Old Brasstown Baptist Church Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Randy Cheek, John Higdon, Craig Roberts, Mary Roberts, Terry Roberts, Ronnie Shook.

mr. voy jay youngblook

 

Mr. Voy Jay Youngblood, age 56, of Hiawassee, passed away Sunday, may 22, 2005.

Mr. Youngblood was born December 18, 1948, in Towns County, to the late Oscar Lewis and Reba (Beck) Youngblood.  He was a U.S. Army, Vietnam War veteran and a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Hiawassee.

Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Latrelle Collins Youngblood of Hiawassee, GA; sister, Sue Dayton of Hiawassee, GA; sister, Betty Dawson of Hiawassee, GA; sister, Debbie Smith of Wichita, KS; brother, Junior Youngblood of Young Harris, GA; brother, Coy Youngblood of Blairsville, GA; brother Buster Youngblood of Hayesville, NC; brother, Jack Youngblood of Hiawassee, GA; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Forrester, and Rev. Ricky Burrell officiating.  Music was provided by the Philadelphia Quartet.  Interment was in Pine Grove Baptist Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Justin Dawson, Derrick Youngblood, Steve Youngblood, Scott Youngblood, Gary Denton, Cameron Dayton.

mrs. virginia agnes biggs

 

Mrs. Virginia Agnes Biggs, age 102, formerly of Hiawassee, GA passed away on May 23, 2005.  She was born to the late George Albert and Elizabeth (Chaney) Eyler on August 24, 1902 in Allegany County, MD.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Harvey Wallace Elmer Biggs in 1987.  She was a member of Eastern Star.  She was an active member of Hiawassee United Methodist Church and also an active volunteer of the Georgia Mountain Fair.  What distinguished her most was her devotion to her family and friends, and her strong faith.  She is survived by her daughter, Maryland Henning of Lawrenceville, GA; grandchildren, Maryland and Don McCarty, of Snellville, GA; Andrea and Ed Brannen, of Lilburn, GA; and great grandchildren, David McCarty, Brent, Nathan, and Lydia Brannen.  Graveside services were held on Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at 2 p.m. from Laurel Hills Memory Garden Cemetery with Rev. Ken Fuller officiating.  Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge of arrangements
