Mr.
Roy Ferguson, age 79, of 319 Old Highway 41, Adairsville, passed away
Tuesday,
June 3, 2009, at Redmond Regional Medical Center, Rome.
He was
born in Towns County, Georgia, July 13, 1929, son of
the late Wifflam (sic) and Liddy Edwards Ferguson.
Mr. Ferguson was a member of Oothcalooga Baptist
Church and retired after thirty-four years from the Georgia Department
of
Transportation. Mr. Ferguson was
preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joann Ferguson and 12 brothers
and
sisters.
Survivors
include 2 sons and daughters-in-law, David and
Debora Ferguson of Adairsville and Ricky and Dina Ferguson of Calhoun;
daughter
and son-in law (sic) Vanessa and Jeff Stafford of Adairsville; 7
grandchildren,
Felicia, Jason, and Philip Ferguson, Jasmine Clark, Ezra Stafford, and
Jeremy
and Josh Ferguson; 5 great-grandchildren, Alexis Cole, Ethan and Chloe
grace
Chambers, Kadin and Kaitlyn Ferguson; brother, Floyd Ferguson and
several
nieces and nephews.
Funeral
services were held Friday, June 5, 2009, at 2 PM at Oothcalooga Baptist
church
with Rev. Harold Dale land rev. Gary Hibberts officiating.
The body lay in state at the church from 1 PM
until 2 PM.
Interment
followed in Oothcalooga Baptist Church Cemetery,
Adairsville. Pallbearers were Jeremy
Ferguson, Josh Ferguson, Ezra Stafford, Derick Clark, Mark Wallace, and
Chad
West. Honorary pallbearers were Jackie
dinning, Jason Ferguson, Jonah Duvall, and Larry Woodring.
The
family received friends Thursday evening from 6 PM until
9 PM at Barton Funeral Home. Dudley
Barton & Son Funeral Home, Adairsville, were
in
charge of funeral arrangements for Mr. Roy Ferguson.
