Dorothy
B. Haskin
Warnke, age 83 of Young Harris, GA, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2011
in
Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Mrs. Warnke was born October 10, 1927 in Florence, AL, to Frank
and
Dorothy Bellamy Reeder. She was an
active member of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Hayesville, NC. Dottie was an avid bridge player, a member of
the Red Hatter Club and a CHI OMEGA Sorority Alumni.
Surviving
family
members include: husband, Herman Warnke of Young Harris; daughter,
Jennifer L.
Horton and her husband, Paul E., of Quincy, FL; son, Gary L. Haskin and
his
wife, Maureen, of Miami, FL; and granddaughters, Holly Ann Taylor,
Kathryn Lee
Horton and Taylor G. Haskin.
Memorial
services
are scheduled for Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 11 a.m. from the Good
Shepherd
Episcopal Church in Hayesville with Rev. John Rice officiating.
In lieu
of flowers,
the family suggests that donations may be made the American Cancer
Society or
to the American Diabetes Association.

Paula
C.
Jones, age 89, of Hiawassee, GA, formerly of Montgomery, AL, passed
away on
peacefully on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Chatuge Regional Nursing Home.
She was
born on September 24, 1921 in Billingsley, AL, to the late Stewart Wall
Missildine
and Annie Jackson Missildine. She was
preceded in death by her husband Lesley M. Jones, son, Paul Cheatham
and brothers,
Jack Missildine, Gilbert Missildine and Merrill Missildine.
She
is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shawn and Keith Henrikson
of
Hiawassee, GA, two grandchildren, Stacey Cheatham and Anissa Smith, two
great
grandchildren, and nephews, family and friends also survive.
A
graveside service was held on Friday, June 10, 2011 at 3 PM at
Greenwood
Cemetery in Montgomery, AL.
Mountain View Funeral Home of

Irene
Dyer Robinson,
age 89, of Young Harris, GA, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2011.
Mrs.
Robinson was a
native of Union County, and was born on December 27, 1921, a daughter
of the
late Joseph Dyer and Pearl Townsend Dyer. She
had lived in this area for most of her
life, and was a member of Zion Methodist Church. Mrs.
Robinson was a graduate of Young Harris
College and North Georgia College. Irene
was an elementary school teacher for 37 years in Dekalb and Towns
Counties
until she retired in 1984, and she was passionate about making a
difference in
the lives of her students. She was also like a second mother to all of
her
siblings and helped them in many ways over the years. Preceding
her in death was her husband, Jack
E. Robinson; her parents; and six brothers and two sisters. Irene was a devoted wife who was married to
her husband Jack for 65 years. An avid
gardener, Irene loved to can and share her bounty with many. She was a generous person with those she came
in contact with.
She is
survived by
and will be lovingly missed by a sister, Maver Swanson, of Young
Harris, GA; a
brother, Jim Collins, of Blairsville; numerous nieces, nephews and
other
relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services for
Mrs. Robinson were held on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 11 a.m., in the
Chapel of
Cochran Funeral Home in Blairsville, with Rev. Stacy Dyer and Rev.
Jimmy Rogers
officiating. A nephew of Mrs. Robinson,
clay Espey, presented the eulogy. Special
music was presented by The Shook Family. The
following gentlemen served as pallbearers:
Tony Dyer, Terry Dyer, David Jones, Donald Kimsey, Larry Swanson, and
Justin
Collins. Serving as honorary escort to
the family was Zachary Kimsey, Jackson Jones, and Andrew Jones. Burial was in Zion Methodist Church Cemetery.
Visitation
at the
funeral home began on Friday evening, June 3, 2011 from 6 until 9 p.m.

Mrs.
Bernice Carolyn
Gatch, age 81 of Hiawassee, GA, passed away June 12, 2011 at Chatuge
Regional
Hospital in Hiawassee. Mrs. Gatch was
born February 3, 1930 in Mullens, SC, to Franklin and Edith Brown
Edwards. She had been a resident of Towns
County since
1986 when she and her husband, Herb, moved from Savannah, GA. Carolyn was a member of McConnell Memorial
Baptist Church in Hiawassee. She was a
devoted Christian, wife and mother who prayed continually for our
nation. Mrs. Gatch was preceded in death
by her son,
Franklin Earl Gatch.
She is
survived by
and will be especially missed by her family; her husband of 64 years, Herbert S. Gatch; daughter, Brenda
Braswell and her husband, Pat of Myrtle Beach, SC; daughter, Teresa
Belinda
Gatch Coleman and her husband, Donald, of Savannah; daughter, Edith
Carol Gatch
of Bluffton, SC; sister, Joyce Perminter of Surfside Beach, SC, and 12
grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Funeral
services were
scheduled for Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of the
Cochran
Funeral Home of Hiawassee with the Rev. Don Pickrell officiating. Interment was in the Osborn Cemetery in
Hiawassee. Visitation at the funeral

Mrs.
Thelma Mary
Reed, age 90, of Cleveland Hwy., Gainesville formerly of Towns County
passed
peacefully on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 in the Chatuge Regional Nursing
Home
following an extended illness. Mrs. Reed
was born on May 16, 1921 in Hiawassee, GA, the daughter of the late
Leonard
Nicholson and the late Bertha Underwood Nicholson. Thelma
enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening
and watching birds. She was a loving
mother, sister and grandmother. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Robert V. Reed in 1979, one sister,
Ruth
Berrong and by three brothers, Ruben, Verlin and Walton Nicholson. Mrs. Reed was a member of Old Union Baptist
Church.
Surviving
Mrs.
Nicholson are two sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Lucy Reed of
Maysville,
GA, Donald and Tammy Reed of Sevierville, TN, one sister, Opal Berrong
of
Hiawassee, one brother and sister-in-law, Wade and Jewell Nicholson of
Hiawassee, four grandchildren, Elizabeth Herring, Diane Gentzke, Donald
Reed
and Brandon Reed, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Graveside
services were
held on Friday, June 10, 2011 at 2 p.m. from the Old Union Baptist
Church
Cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Hogsed officiating. The
family met with friends at the Mountain
View Funeral Home of Thursday evening from 6 – 8 p.m.
