Mrs. Mary
Martha Garrett, age 72, formerly of Hiawassee, GA, passed away
Thursday, June
19, 2008, at Moses Cone Hospital. A
native of new Smyrna Beach, FL, Mrs. Garrett was born on September 20,
1935,
the daughter of the late Elmer and Mary Hutcheson Hathaway. She enjoyed fishing, sewing, gardening and
traveling. Her ultimate pleasure,
though, came from caring for her husband and children.
She is
survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Rowe
Garrett of the home; daughters, Karen ogles and her husband Alan of
magnolia,
TX, Janice Garrett of Atlanta, GA, and Natalie Wurz and her husband
Robert of
Stokesdale, NC; sister, Ann Ingles of Dunedin, FL; brothers, Kenneth
Brannon of
Dunedin, FL and Robert Hathaway of Miami, FL and five grandchildren.
A
memorial service in celebration of her life was held at 7
p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at Forbis & Dick Brooke Chapel
with Rev.
Kirk Tutterow and Rev. Cheryl Skinner officiating.
The family received friends from 6 until 7
p.m. on Wednesday evening prior to the service.
