amelia ruth barlow

Mrs. Amelia Ruth Barlow, age 91, of Crooked Creek Rd., Young Harris passed away on Sunday July 2, 2006 at her home following an extended illness.  Mrs. Barlow was born on Nov. 30, 1914 in White County, GA, the daughter of the late George Lester Irvin and the late Emma Lee Hooper.  She was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Battle, Sr. in 1942 and her second husband, Sidney Barlow in 1997.  She had made her home in Young Harris since 1978.  Mrs. Barlow was a member of Woods Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Barlow are two sons and daughter-in-laws, Thomas M. and Ella Jenkins Battle of Blairsville, Robert and Jan Battle of Nashville, GA, one granddaughter, Kristina Licata of land O’Lakes, FL, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday July 5, 2006 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Terrell Jones and Rev. Bill Howell officiating.  Special music was presented by the Faith Singers.  Interment followed in the Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family met with friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m.
