Mr. Andrew Randolph Spain, age 66, of Young Harris, GA, passed away on July 20, 2006 following a period of declining health.  He was born to the late James Edward & Ollie Lee (Cochran) on February 19, 1940 in Fulton County, GA.

He is survived by daughter & son-in-law, Betty Jean and Ricky Ried of Monroe, GA; son & daughter-in-law, Randy & Melissa Spain of Young Harris, GA; brothers, Bill Spain of Young Harris, GA, Dude Spain of Princeton, W.VA., Willis Spain of Loganville, GA, Jack Spain of Newnan, GA, Dinky Spain of powder Springs, GA, Junior Spain of Conyers, GA; sisters, Joanne Wright of Young Harris, GA, Katie Stephens of Young Harris, GA, Nell Browning of Snellville, GA, Viola Rogers of Andrews, NC, Mildred Quakenbush of Buford, GA, Bonnie Segars of Bethlehem, GA, Kathryn Boyer of Johns Island, SC; thirteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside services were held Sunday, July 23, 2006 at 2 p.m. from Milstead Cemetery in Conyers, GA with Rev. Jason Derryberry and Rev. Richard Bell officiating. 

Banister Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

leon bruno frechette

 

Leon Bruno Frechette, 70, of Hiawassee, GA died Sunday, July 9, 2006 at Harris Regional Hospital in Sylva, NC.

Born march 26, 1936 in Springfield, MA to the late Bruno & Elodia Frechette.

He started working for the City of Springfield, MA, at the age of 16 in the Street Dept., City of Spokane WA. Public Works Dept., and retired from the City of Moses Lake, WA. Public Works Dept. Retired from the U.S. Air Force Reserves with 20 years of honorable service.

He moved to Milton, FL and Pahrump, NV to enjoy his retirement years with Nancy.  His last two years was spent in Hiawassee, GA.  He enjoyed fishing, working in the yard, playing the slot machines, traveling and enjoyed life.  His incredible penmanship and “pocket full of pens” will not be forgotten.  His caring smile and laid back personality will be missed.  Thanks Dad for all the memories.

Surviving are his beautiful wife of 52 years, Nancy; a daughter Tonya Chetsas of Murphy, NC. Five sons, Leon A. Frechette and Bob Frechette both from Spokane, WA, Greg Frechette of Hayden, ID, Mike Frechette of Milton, FL and Shane Frechette of Irvine, CA., and 12 grandchildren.  Three sisters and one brother all of Massachusetts.

Moody Funeral Homes, Sylvia, NC was in charge of all arrangements.

willie mae anderson

 

Mrs. Willie Mae Anderson, age 91, of Kernersville, NC, formerly of Hiawassee, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2006 at Britt haven Nursing Home.

Mrs. Anderson was born Monday, May 17, 1915 in Towns County, GA to the late Joe and Emma Dillingham Underwood.  She was a lifelong resident of Towns County until moving to Kernersville three years ago.  Mrs. Anderson was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband, nelson Anderson and a son, Don Anderson.

Survivors include:; daughter & son-in-law, Shirley and Frank Holifield of Kernersville, NC; 3 grandchildren, Jeff and Tara Holifield, Mitzi and Bobby Brumley and Barry Holifield, 7 great-grandchildren, Emily, Cindy, Andrew, Amy, Logan, Kelli, and Brandon; and 1 great-great-grandchild, Damian.

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 16, 2006 at 3 p.m. from the Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Anthony Dye and Rev. Farrell Presley officiating.  Music was by the Church Choir and Lisa Wilkie.  Pallbearers were Lowell Nicholson, Rodney Underwood, Bobby Brumley, Luke Underwood, Bruce Underwood, Roy Dean Sprinkles, Michael Williams, and Larry Butler.  Interment was in the Church Cemetery.
