mr. james colman keys, jr.

 

Mr.  James Colman Keys, Jr., age 61, of Hiawassee, GA passed away on Monday, July 18, 2005 following an extended illness.  He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. James Colman Keys, Sr. in 1999.  He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Ida Keys, of Hiawassee, GA; wife, Mrs. JoAnn Keys, of Hiawassee, GA; daughters, Mrs. Brenda Gibson, and Mrs. Tammy Nichols, both of Blairsville, GA; three stepdaughters, Sharon Parker, of Young Harris, GA; Karen Keys and Dianna Nicholson, both of Hiawassee, GA; son, Roger Dale Keys, of Blairsville, GA; four stepsons, Ricky Allen, of Blairsville, GA; Danny Joe Allen, of Dahlonega, GA; Charles Allen, of Young Harris, GA; and Mark Nicholson, of Hiawassee, GA; brother, Jackie Keys, of Young Harris, GA; sisters, Ruby Smith, Effie Sue Long, Genevie Ferguson, all of Young Harris, GA; and Dorothy Ellis, of Hayesville, NC; twenty-eight grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Lester Sutton, Rev. Mike Youngblood, and Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating.  Pallbearers were Jeff Freeman, Steve Sexton, Robby Gibson, Dustin Lee, Darrell Long and Jimmy Long.  Interment was in Old Union Baptist Church cemetery.  Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge of arrangements

l.p. eller

 

Mr. L.P. Eller, age 83 of Hiawassee, GA passed away Sunday, July 17, 2005 at his home.

Mr. Eller was born Saturday, May 27, 1922 in Towns County to the late Grady Eller and Leitha Eller.  He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include a brother, Edward Eller of Hiawassee, GA.  Several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great=great nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Glen Eller officiating.  Music was provided by Glen and Sheila Eller.  Interment was in Boyd’s Chapel Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Jerry Eller, Jeremy Eller, Shannon Burrell, Steve Perry, Michael Long, Curt Dover.

roy harold mitchell

 

Mr. Roy Harold Mitchell, age 75, of Hiawassee, GA, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2005 at his home after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Mitchell was born Saturday, November 2, 1929 in Henry County, Georgia to the late Carl Mitchell and Ruby Mae (Carter) Mitchell.  He was a member of McConnell Memorial Baptist Church.

Survivors include: wife of 56 years, Betty Mitchell of Hiawassee, GA, daughter, Margaret Jones of Macon, GA, daughter and son-in-law, Miriam and Mitchell Thomason of Jackson, GA, grandson, Bradley Barker of Macon, GA and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with the Dr. Rudy Patton and Rev. Bob Alwine officiating.  Music was provided by McConnell Memorial Baptist Church.  Interment was in Osborne Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Mitchell Thomason, Bradley Barker, Allan Driskell, Bradley Thomason, Buddy Kelly, Gene Hamilton.

mr. lane thomason

 

Mr. Lane Thomason, age 54, of Hiawassee, passed away Thursday, July 14th at his home.

Lane was born in Towns County, June 15, 1951 the son of the late Rev. Burline and Elsie (Wright) Thomason.  He was a member of Brasstown Baptist Church.

Survivors include: wife, Hilda Taylor Thomason of the home; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Hal Phillips of Young Harris, GA; several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 16, 2005 at 2 p.m. from the Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Anthony Dye and Rev. Kevin Brooks officiating.  Music was provided by Mt. Zion Baptist Church Choir and Betty Allison.  Pallbearers were Gerald Hall, Eddie Bradley, Johnny Welch, Greg Rogers, Chris Henson and Leo Abernathy.  Interment was in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
