Jeanne M. Summers, age 66, of Hiawassee, GA, passed away on August 3, 2004 in Northern Virginia Community Hospital.

Ms. Summers was born in Detroit, MI, and worked for the Procurment office with the Department of the navy for 38 years.  She retired from the navy Department.

Ms. Summers was the Treasurer and member of the Decorative Arts Society of Hiawassee, GA.  She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Chapter Preceptor, Alpha Zeta, Former Seretary with South Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce for 3 years.  Her hobbies included spending time with her grandchildren, reading, decorative painting, bowling, playing cards, quilting and basketweaving.

Survivors include Daughter and son-in-law, Kelly J. & Ernie Gonzales of Manassas, VA, four grandchildren; step-mother, Mary McGillivray of Dearborn, MI.

Memorial services were held on August 8, 2004 at 3 p.m. at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD.  In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, 6 Herndon Ave., Annapolis, MD 21403.

mr. james william taylor

 

Mr. James William Taylor, age 71, of Hiawassee, GA passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2004, in Chatuge Regional Hospital following a period of declining health.

He was born to the late Glen and Ruby (Turpin) Taylor on January 21, 1933 in Towns County, Ga.  He was a member and deacon of Bell Scene Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Sue York.  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ruth Taylor, of Hiawassee, GA; two daughters, Connie Adams, of Helen, GA, and Vicki Jenkins, of Young Harris, GA; two sons, Anthony Taylor and Bryant Taylor, both of Hiawassee, GA; three brothers, Bobby Taylor, of Hiawassee, GA; Jackie Taylor, of Baldwin, GA; and Jerel Taylor of Douglasville, GA; two sisters, Deana Faye Durham, of Decatur, GA; and Mattie Southland, of Douglasville, GA; seven grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held at Bell Scene Baptist Church on Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Chris Anderson and the Rev. Tommy Jenkins officiating.  Music was provided by the Bell Scene Church Choir.  Pallbearers were: Chad Parramore, Bradley Taylor, Blake Taylor, Brandon O’Hearn, Justin Moss, Greg Taylor, Chris Durham, and Dennis Taylor. 

Interment was in the Bell Scene Church cemetery.

Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee was in charge of arrangements.
