Mr. John
Thomas Chambers are 88 Shakerage Rd., Hiawassee passed away on Monday,
Aug. 3,
2009 in the Chatuge regional (sic) Nursing Home following an extended
illness. Mr. Chambers was born on Feb. 26,
1921 in
Bronx, NY, the son of the late William Chambers and the late Elizabeth
Gordon
Chambers. He was a veteran of the US Air
Force of WWII. John loved to play golf
and softball. He was a lifetime member
of the VFW and American Legion. He was
loved by all and was a real gentleman.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret and an infant
sister,
one brother, William Chambers. Mr.
Chambers was a member of Union Hill Methodist Church.
Surviving Mr.
Chambers are his loving wife of seventeen years, Beverly Wiseburg
Chambers of
Hiawassee, one son, John Thomas, Jr. of Cape Canaveral, FL, step
daughter and
step son-in-law, Susan and William Bongiovanni of Largo, FL, stepson,
William
Dawson of new Hope, AL, one sister, Lillian of Ft. Myers, FL, four
grandchildren, Christine, Donna, Amanda and Kelley, four great
grandchildren,
one step grandson, Jeff Dawson, many other relatives and friends also
survive.
A memorial
service will be held on Friday, Aug. 14, 2009 at 2 p.m. from the Union
Hill
Methodist Church with Dr. Charles Wilson officiating.
Special music was presented by the church
choir. Military honors will be conducted
by the North GA. Honor Guard. In lieu of
flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to
the
Alzheimer’s Foundation, 31 College Place Suite D., Asheville, NC 28801
in
memory of Mr. Chambers.
