Mr.
Elmer Shattuck Patterson, age 88, of Hiawassee, GA. passed away on
Wednesday
August 18, 2010 in the Landmark Hospital in Athens following an
extended
illness. Mr. Patterson was born on
January 12, 1922 in Spring Field, MO, the son of the late William
Francis
Patterson and the late Ruth Shattuck Patterson. He
served his country as a Lieutenant in the
Navy during World War II in Okinawa. After
the war he graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He was a Nuclear Engineer by profession,
working on projects and presenting papers worldwide. Mr.
Patterson was a member of the Church of
the Good Shepherd in Hayesville.
Elmer is
survived by
his loving wife of 66 years, Marcia, son William and daughter-in-law,
Sally of
Hiawassee, son Mark and daughter-in-law, Sallie of Kansas City,
grandson, Ben
of Norfolk, VA, and great-granddaughter, Angelica of Ashville, NC, many
other
relatives and friends also survive.
A
memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at 2 p.m.
from the
Church of The Good Shepherd with Father John Rice officiating. The family will meet with friends following
the services at the church. In lieu of
flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to
the
Church Of The Good Shepherd in memory of Mr. Patterson.

Mr. Paul
R. Stafford of Hiawassee, GA
(formerly of Lake Wales) Passed away Saturday, August 14, 2010 at the
Emory
University Hospital in Atlanta, GA.
He was born September 22, 1925 in
Ashland, KY to the late Leslie and Florence (Ratliff) Stafford; and
moved to
Lake Wales in 1970. h was a retired shoe
retailer (owner/operator) of Stafford Shoes in Lake Wales and Ashland,
KY, was
of the Methodist faith, and was a veteran of World War II, serving in
the U.S.
Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Lois R.
Stafford of Hiawassee, GA; daughters, Jennifer Langford of York, SC,
Sherry
Williams of Ashland, KY, Sue Fossom of Catlettsburg, KY; sons, Jim
Stafford of
Lake Wales, Walt Stafford of Blairsville, GA; and eight grandchildren.
A graveside service was held 2 PM
Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at the Lake Wales Cemetery, with Rev. Keith
Thompson officiating. Family received
friends at 1 PM at Marion
Nelson Funeral Home, Lake Wales.
