Mr.
William
(Bill) Howard Bates, age 72, of Hummingbird Ln., Hiawassee, GA, passed
away on
Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008 in the Fannin Regional Hospital following an
extended
illness. Mr. Bates was born on July 15,
1936 in Oak Park, IL, the son of the late
William
Bates and the late Beatrice Faul Bates.
Bill was a well known and respected photographer in the area. He was a member of the Blairsville classic
Car Club and was also a member of the Mountain Arts Guild.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Bobbi
Bates.
Surviving Bill
are his loving wife, Elizabeth Bradley Bates of Hiawassee, three sons
and one
daughter-in-law, William E. and Elizabeth Bates of Sunrise, FL, Terry
bates of
Sunrise, FL, Todd Bates of Seattle, WA, two step daughters and
sons-in-law,
Stephanie and James Watson of Cumming, GA, Katherine and Steven
Harrington of
Toms River, NJ, three grandchildren, Eric, Shannon and Courtney bates
all of
Sunrise, FL, five step grandchildren, Joshua and Gracie Watson, Andrew,
Tessa
and Mallory Harrington, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial
service will be held at a later date. In
lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be
made to
the Multiple Myeloma Foundation in Bill’s memory.

Mrs.
Jennie Passannante, age 98, of Church St., Hiawassee, formerly of
Miami, FL,
passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 in Brasstown Manor following
an
extended illness. Mrs. Passannante was
born on June 29, 1910 in Italy, the daughter of the late Ronald and
Ellie
Cantorino. She lived in Brooklyn, NY,
and was employed as a seamstress for many years. She
loved to cook and knit, but most of all,
her love was her family. She worked and
sent her son Ronald through college. Her
great sense of humor took her through living for 98 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband,
Ronald Passannante, Sr., and also her son Ronald Passannante, Jr. Mrs. Passannante was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving
Mrs. Passannante are her close friends, America and George of
Hayesville, NC,
and her many dear friends at Brasstown Manor.
A memorial
service will be held at a later date. In
lieu of flowers if you wish, memorials may be made to the American
Cancer
society in Mrs. Passannante’s memory.
