john mclaren III

 

            Mr. John McLaren III, age 72, of Pioneer Trail, Hiawassee passed away on Monday Sept. 1, 2008 at his home following an extended illness.  Mr. McLaren was born on Feb. 24, 1936 in New Haven, CT, the son of the late John McLaren, Sr. and the late Jeanette French McLaren.  He was a veteran of the US Air Force.  He retired in 1985 as a Computer Systems Analyst with NCR.  John had made his home in Hiawassee for the past fourteen years, moving here from Orlando, FL.  Mr. Mclaren was of the Christian faith.

            Surviving Mr. McLaren are one daughter and son-in-law, Janelle and John Padinger of Ft. Atkinson, WI, his former wife, Myrla McLaren of Hiawassee, three grandchildren, Ashley, J.T. and Austin, one great grandchild, Malachi, many other relatives and friends also survive.

            A memorial service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in Mr. McLaren’s memory.

della wheeler roach

 

            Della Wheeler Roach, age 75, of Hiawassee, GA, passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at Chatuge Regional Hospital.

            Della was born Friday, March 17, 1933 in Towns Co., GA, to the late Tom and Era (Youngblood) Wheeler.  She was a member of Lower Hightower Baptist church.

            Survivors include: daughter, Rachel Roach Pietz of Hiawassee, GA, son, Walter Thomas Roach of Palm Bay, FL, sister, Frankie Dye of Canton, OH, sister, Ruby Abernathy of Sautee, GA, grandsons, Mark Aaron Gibson, Tracy Austin Gibson, and Jackie Barnette Gibson.

            Funeral services were held Friday, September 5, 2008 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Don Banks officiating.  Interment was in Lower Hightower Baptist Church Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Mark Aaron Gibson, Tracy Austin Gibson, Jackie Barnette Gibson, Delaine Bradshaw, Drew Oliver, Ben Brown and Nick Hughes.
