willis frank shook

 

Mr. Willis Frank Shook, age 73, of Airline Rd., Young Harris passed away on Monday, September 10, 2007 in the Chatuge Regional Hospital following a brief illness.  Mr. Shook was born on October 12, 1933 in Towns County, the son of the late John Andy Shook and the late Vera Justice Shook.  He was a native and lifelong resident of Towns County.  He was a heavy equipment operator by trade.  Willis was a loving and caring husband, father and pawpaw.  In his pastime he loved to fish.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Arnold Shook.  Mr. Shook was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Surviving Mr. Shook is his loving wife of fifty-three years, Delthia Wheeler Shook of Young Harris; three sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Patricia Shook, Brent and Dianne Shook all of Clarkesville, GA, Lynn and Judy Shook of Cleveland, GA; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Tommy and Brenda Shook of young Harris, Hoyt Shook of Hiawassee; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Faye and R.L. Nichols of Young Harris, Earlene and Bud Holcomb of Young Harris; two grandchildren, Kristen Parker of young Harris, Samantha Shook of Cleveland; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the Cornerstone Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Rogers, Rev. Ricky Rogers and Rev. Larry Williams officiating.  Special music was presented by the Benny Shook family.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Steve and Curtis Holloway, Terry Stroud, Keith Holcomb, Gary Shook and Richard Nichols.  Interment followed in the church cemetery.  The family met with friends at the Cornerstone Baptist Church on Tuesday evening from 5-9 p.m.

David E. Matheson, age 52, of Young Harris, GA, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2007 at Union General Hospital.  Mr. Matheson was born Thursday, September 16, 1954 in Towns County, GA to the late John Paul Matheson and the late Edra Powell Matheson.  Mr. Matheson was of the Baptist faith.  He was preceded in death by brothers, James and George Matheson and granddaughter, Ashlyn Matheson.

Survivors include: wife, Linda Matheson of Young Harris, GA; son, Michael David Matheson of Young Harris, GA; daughter, Melinda Nicole Burbage of Cleveland, GA; sisters, Carolyn Hall, GA, Betty Jean Lackey, Christine Fields, all of young Harris and Dorothy Wellman of Gastonia, NC; brother, Odell “Bug” Matheson of Young Harris and granddaughters, Shayna Matheson, Sierra Johnson and Andromeda Burbage.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 15, 2007 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Jonathan Hood officiating.  Music was provided by Ned Wilcoxon, Kelley Brewer and Ralph Grice.  Interment followed in West Union Baptist Church Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were: Charles Rose, David Sistrunk, Ricky Dyer, James Burbage, Andy Burbage and Michael Matheson.  The family received friends at the funeral home form 6-9, Friday, September 14.

martha ann holland parramore

 

Martha Ann Holland Parramore, age 73, of Young Harris, GA passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at her home following an extended illness.  Born on June 8, 1934 in Americus, GA to the late Wiley Julian Parramore and the late Carol Nettie Cannon Holland, she was one of four children.  She and her family owned and operated Valley Nursery since 1985.  Mrs. Parramore was a homemaker and a member of the Ball Mountain Chapter No. 349 Order of the Eastern Star.  She gave tremendously of her time and energy to her family.  She will always be remembered for her love of people.  She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.  She is predeceased by her parents, Wiley Julian Holland and Carol Nettie Cannon Holland; her husband, James Albert Parramore; and her sister, Joyce Holland Sampson.

She is survived by her sister, Jean Holland Dupre of Thomasville, GA and brother, Julian Holland of Alexandria, VA; her children, James Albert “Bert” Parramore, Jr., Wesley Julian Parramore and his wife, Sherry Rogers Parramore, Gina Carol Parramore, and Philip Dallas Parramore all of Young Harris, GA; her grandchildren Donna Lynn Parramore, Lindsey Parramore Oliver, Chad Taylor Parramore, and Linzey Nicole Mason.  Many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at Mountain View Funeral Home in Blairsville, GA with Rev. Tommy Jenkins officiating.  Special music was presented by Jeannie Miles.  The ladies of Ball Mountain Chapter No. 349 Order of the Eastern Star served as honorary pallbearers.  In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to Regency Hospice in Mrs. Parramore’s memory.  The family met with friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 3-5 p.m.
