Rev.
Leon Henderson, age 57, of Young Harris, GA, passed away Monday,
September 15,
208 at his home. Rev. Henderson was born
Saturday, January 20, 1951 in Union County, GA, to Wayne and Zelma
Plott
Henderson. He was a member of the Day of grace Baptist Church in Blairsville. Rev. Henderson had been the pastor of
Youngstown Baptist Church in Blairsville for 14 years and was currently
serving
as pastor at Bell Scene Baptist Church in Hiawassee.
He was retired from General Motors where he
had worked for 32 years. Leon was also a
member of the Young Cane Masonic Lodge #597 F&AM.
He and his wife, Ginger, have been married
for 36 years. He was preceded in death
by two infant sons, Travis Lee and Joshua William Henderson.
Survivors
include: wife, Ginger Henderson of Young Harris; parents, Wayne and
Zelma
Henderson, son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Michelle Henderson,
brother and
sister-in-law, Louis and Betty Henderson, brother and sister-in-law,
Larry and
Bonnie Henderson and grandchild, Morgan Riley Henderson, all of
Blairsville. Many nieces, nephews and a
host of friends
also survive.
Funeral
services were held Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at 2PM from the Day of
grace
Baptist Church with Rev. Hoyt Brown, Rev. Max Padgett and Rev. Ned
Wilcoxon officiating. Music was provided
by the Bell Scene Baptist
Choir and the Eagle Mountain Quartet.
Interment followed in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were the following
gentlemen: Keith Moss, hank McClure, Bud Murphy, Sheldon Henderson, Lee
Griggs
and Wesley McClure. Honorary pallbearers
included: Area Baptist Preachers and Deacons, also, Rick Davenport,
Terry
Jones, Michael Lee, Ricky Rich, Ralph Grice, Russell Legg and Daniel
Moss.
The family
received friends at the funeral home from 6-9 PM, Tuesday, September 16.

Mrs.
Linda Sue Ledford, age 63, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Tuesday,
September
16, 2008. Mrs. Ledford was a native of
Towns County, GA, and was born on Saturday, June 17, 1945, a daughter
of the
late Tommy Edwards and Velma Burrell Edwards.
She had lived in Paulding County, GA, for several years, and
moved back
to this area four years ago. Mrs.
Ledford was a member of Whitworth Memorial Baptist Church in Dallas,
GA.
Survivors
include her husband, Everett Glen Ledford of Blairsville; daughter 7
son-in-law, Charlene & Joey Johnston; daughter 7 son-in-law, Karen
&
Joseph Addison; daughter, Darlene Williams; son & daughter-in-law,
Charles
Everett 7 Lena Ledford, all of Dallas, GA; brother, Jerry Edwards of
Marietta,
GA; brother, Garry Edwards of Blairsville; brother, Larry Edwards of
Dallas,
GA; brother, Mitchell Edwards of Marietta; sister, Jeanette Ledford of
Dallas,
GA,; sister, Regina Price of Marietta; grandchildren: Jody Johnston,
Michael
LePire, Cory LePire, Brittney Cardon, Jesse Ledford, Jared Ledford,
Justin
Ledford, Jordan Ledford, Bethanee Williams, and Bailee Williams.
Funeral
services were held Friday, September 19, 2008 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel
of
Cochran Funeral Home in Hiawassee, with Rev. Mikey Youngblood and Rev.
Darin
Cochran officiating. Music was provided
by The Cochran Family. Interment
followed in Osborne Cemetery.
The family
received friends Thursday, September 18 from 4 until 9 p.m., at the
funeral
home.

Mr. Earl
Eugene Cox, age 86 of Mountain Top View, Young Harris, passed away on
Monday,
Sept. 15, 2008 in the Union County Nursing Home following a brief
illness. Mr. Cox was born on Feb. 5, 1922
in
Parkersburg, WV, the son of the late Carl Cox and the late Ethel
DeVaugh
Cox. He was a veteran of the US Navy of
WWII. He was a carpenter by trade and
was a member of the Carpenters Local 22332672 of Cleveland, OH. He was preceded in death by his wife of
forty-nine years, Vivian Hitchcock, who passed away in Jan. of 2001. Mr. Cox was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving
Mr. Cox are two sisters, Amy Bookover of Leesburg, FL, Luranna Weiser
of
Parkersburg, VA, one brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Faye Cox of
Parkersburg, VA, nice and nephew, Marilyn and Tom Jenkins of
Blairsville,
several other nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also
survive.
A graveside
service was held on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008 at 11 a.m. from the
Meadow View
Cemetery with Dr. Phillip Meeks officiating.
In lieu of flower if you wish, the family requests that
memorials may be
made to the Union County Animal Shelter in memory of Mr. Cox.
