henry ward mcconnell

Mr. Henry “Ward” McConnell, age 91, of Hiawassee, GA passed away Thursday, September 23, 2004 at his home following an extended illness.  He was born to the late Canary and Mollie (Puett) McConnell on March 13, 1913 in Towns County, GA.  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ruby McConnell, of the home; brother Vaughn McConnell, of Hiawassee, GA; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.  Funeral services were held on Sunday, September 26, 2004 at 2 PM from the chapel of Banister Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Robinson officiating.  Music was provided by Rita & James Hooper, and Willie Puett.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Phillip McConnell, Randall McConnell, Randy McConnell, Terry McConnell, Mickey McConnell, and Elmer Bryson.  Honorary pallbearers were: Bill McConnell, Burl McConnell, and Donald McConnell.  Interment was in Burch Cemetery.  Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge of arrangements.

fairl banks shook, jr.

Mr. Fairl Banks Shook, Jr., age 70, of Winder, GA passed away on September 24, 2004 at his home.  He was born on May 21, 1934 in Towns County, GA and was a member of Lower Bell Creek Baptist Church and had served in the United States Army.  He was also a member of Unicoi Lodge #259 F. & A>M>  He was preceded in death by his father, F.B. Shook, Sr., and mother, Rubey (Wood) Shook, one son, Bruce Shook and one brother, Henry Lee Shook.  He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Bryce and Sherry Shook, of Murrayville, GA; daughter, Bonni Huff, of Athens, GA; brother, Alex Shook, of Lucasville, OH; brother, Truett Shook, of Hiawassee, GA; brother, Michael Shook, of Okeechobee, FL; sister, Margie Nicholson, of Parachute, CO; sisters, Estelle Sanders, Brenda Baker, and Sandy Foster, all of Hiawassee, GA; sister, Margaret Shook, of Palmetto, GA; three grandson, Dylan Huff, Bailey Shook, and Joshua Shook.  Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 28, 2004 at 11 AM from the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Stanley McConnell and Rev. Harry Collins officiating.  Music was provided by Mrs. Sheila Eller.  Pallbearers were Tony Shook, Michael Shook, Keith Shook, Tim Nicholson, Marty Sanders, Jamie McClure, Kevin Morgan, and Rgie Huff, The Unicoi Lodge #259 F. & A.M. conducted the graveside services.  Interment was in Lower Bell Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.  Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge of arrangements.
