mrs. lola elizabeth ramey corn

 

Mrs. Lola Elizabeth Ramey Corn, age 90 of Hiawassee passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2003 following an extended illness.

Mrs. Corn was born on March 20, 1913 in Rabun County, GA, the daughter of the late Grady Ramey and the late Finnie Shook Ramey.  She was preceded in death by her husband, George Corn in 1958, a sister, Minnie Owenby, two brothers, Robert and Johnny Ramey and a grandson, Rickey Anthony Shook.  Mrs. Corn was a lifelong resident of Towns County and was a member of the Union Hill Methodist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Corn are five daughters and three son-in-laws, Thelma Ree and Chester W. Shook of Demorest, GA; Helen M. Shoffeit of Cleveland, GA; Nora Bell Shedd of Hiawassee and Don Murphy of Blairsville; Kimberle and Rev. Reggie Shook of Hiawassee; one brother, Boyd Ramey of Clarkesville, GA; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, September 28, 2003 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Reggie Shook, Rev. Tulley Griggs and Rev. Jason Smith officiating.  Special music was presented by Sandy Gribble and Cindy Whitmore.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Jonithan Welch, Franklin Shook, Mickey Shook, David Dyer, Mark Kinney and Hubert Bowen.  Interment followed in the Burch Cemetery.
