david clay burch

 

David Clay Burch, age 82 of Hiawassee, GA passed away Thursday, October 4, 2007 at his residence.  Mr. Burch was a native of Towns County, GA and the son of the late Victor Jessie and Lena Prater Burch.  David worked as a security guard for the Fulton County Stadium in Atlanta, GA.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He was a member of union Hill Methodist Church in Hiawassee, GA.

He is survived by his wife, Hattie Mae Burch; three sons, Kenneth David Burch and his wife Brenda of Vila Rica, GA, Kelvin Clay Burch of Hiawassee, GA and Keith Edward Burch and his wife Penny of Hiawassee, GA; two daughters and their husbands, Bonnie Sue and Conrad Gaddis of Vila Rica, GA and Linda Rachel and John Bell of Centre, AL; one brother, Jay Burch of Gainesville, GA; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 7, 2007 at the Union Hill Methodist Church in Hiawassee, GA.  Pastor Barry Dotson and Pastor Ken Fuller officiated.  Music was provided by Rudy Roach.  Burial was in the Burch Cemetery in Hiawassee, Ga.  Pallbearers were Benny Barrett, Dennis McClure, Wesley Barrett, Anthony Taylor, John Burch and Franklin Shook.  The family received friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, October 6, 2007 at the Townson Rose Frank Rose Sr. Memorial Chapel in Hayesville, NC.  You may send tributes to the Burch family at www.mem.com

rafe allen piatt

 

Mr. Rafe Allen Piatt, age 35, of Bud Walt Rd., Hiawassee passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 in the Chatuge Regional Hospital following a sudden illness.  Mr. Piatt was born on May 13, 1972 in Cleveland, OH, the son of Karen Ann Green Piatt and the late Gary Dean Piatt.  Rafe was in the hardwood flooring installation business and had worked in Towns, Union and many of the surrounding Counties.  He was a hardworking, loving, loyal husband and father and a friend to all who knew him.  Rafe was of the Protestant faith.

Surviving Mr. Piatt are his loving wife and best friend of seventeen years, Angel Marie Ward Piatt of Hiawassee; mother, Karen  Mullins of Massillon, OH; three children, Destinee and Skylar Piatt both of Hiawassee, Autumn McKeown of West Virginia; three brothers, Eric Piatt of Hiawassee, Shane and Josh Piatt both of Massillon, OH; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, October 7, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Charles Maney officiating.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Eric and Shane Piatt, Jamie Ward, Jonathan Zeigler, Daniel Whitacre, Toby Bateman, Donald Wilson and Douglas Marshall.  Interment followed in the Osborn Cemetery.  The family met with friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6-9 p.m.
