Jamie Baker, age 50, of Hiawassee, GA died Saturday, October 8, 2005 at her residence.  A native of Towns County, but she had grown up in Clay County before moving back to Towns County.  She was the daughter of James R. McClure of Hiawassee, GA, and Patsy Henley Smith of Sophia, NC.  She was a homemaker and was of the Christian faith.  Jamie enjoyed the outdoors.

Surviving are a daughter, Heather Varner of Boone, NC; three sisters, Rhonda McClure, Marsha Woodmansee, and Tammy Schmidt, all of Sophia, NC.

Funeral services at 2 PM Wednesday (Oct. 12) in the Chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with Rev. Curtis Ledford officiating.  Burial in the Bethel Cemetery.  Pallbearers: Jack Bradshaw, Randy Hicks, Ethan Cantrell, and Randy McConnell.

The family received friends from 12-1:45 Wednesday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville prior to the service.

ronald c. ledford

 

Mr. Ronald C. Ledford, age 86, of Hiawassee, GA passed away Saturday, October 8, 2005 in Chatuge Regional Nursing Home.

Mr. Ledford was born Tuesday, July 15, 1919 in Towns County, GA, son of the late E.P. Ledford and the late Bonnie Lee Byers Ledford.

Mr. Ledford was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force in WWII and Korea.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews and a brother-in-law, A.J. Free.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Harris Ledford.

Funeral services were held Monday, October 10, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Ledford officiating.  Music was provided by the Eagle Mtn. Quarter.  Pallbearers were Bobby Ledford, Billy Free, Mike Crane, Kevin Moss, Allen Gribble, and Dean Moss.  Interment followed in the Joab Ledford Cemetery.

edward hays

 

Mr. Edward Hays, age 76, of Hiawassee, GA, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2005 at Lanier Park North E. GA. Medical Center.

Mr. Hays was born Saturday, April 6, 1929 in Fulton County, Georgia to the late Q.F. Hays and Mary Lee Prather Hays.  He was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church in Fayetteville, GA, a Mason, a Shriner and a Naval-Air Force Reserve Veteran.  He was preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law, Howell and Barbara Hays.

Survivors include: wife, Bernice Hays of Hiawassee, GA, son & daughter-in-law, Bradley and Judy Hays of Hiawassee, GA, son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Michelle Hays of Locust Grove, GA, daughter and son-in-law, Faye and Ken Foster of Woodstock, GA, son and daughter-in-law, Ben and Diane Hays of Gay, GA, daughter and son-in-law, Lea Ann and Mark Essenburg of Roswell, GA, 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at 2 p.m. from the Macedonia Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold Ledford and Rev. Steve Youngblood officiating.
