Lloyd
Anton Hundley, age 97 of Young Harris, GA, died on October 9, 2008 in
Young
Harris, GA. Lloyd was born in Rago, KS,
on September 2, 1911, to Clara and Wilson Scott Hundley, who was a
section
repair foreman for the Sante Fe Railroad.
In 1928 he
graduated from Spivey High School, began at Friends University on a
football
scholarship until he broke his ankle, worked various jobs including
Friends
Wool and Hide Co., and then married Esther Friend of Spivey on
September 7,1935, in Eldorado, KS.
Two weeks later they moved to south Florida and very
successfully farmed
winter vegetables for forty-five years while living in Pahokee on
beautiful
Lake Okeechobee in western Palm Beach County.
In 1980,
Lloyd and his wife moved to the north Georgia mountains
at Young Harris. He was a committed
Christian who served many administrative and stewardship roles in his
local
church. In 1990, Lloyd and Marie
lovingly donated a German-built tracker pipe organ to their local
United
Methodist church for the glory of God.
Lloyd was an avid golfer who played weekly the Chatuge course
and made
three hole-in-ones in his fifty years of golf.
He enjoyed growing roses and a vegetable garden and sharing the
produce
with all his neighbors.
A memorial
service was held at Sharp memorial United Methodist Church in Young
Harris, GA,
on Sunday, October 12 at 2 PM. His
cremated ashes will be scattered over lake
Okeechobee,
FL.
Lloyd is
survived by two sons: John Lloyd of North palm
Beach, FL; and Wayne Scott of Young Harris GA; and by four beloved
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mrs.
Lougene Dills Taylor, age 83 of Hiawassee, GA, passed away Saturday,
October
11, 2008 at her residence.
Mrs.
Taylor was born Saturday, December 13, 1924 in Towns
County, GA to the late Garner Dills and the late Cleo Ledford Dills. She was a member of McConnell memorial
Baptist Church since the age of 13. She
volunteered in every capacity at church including housekeeping, church
nursery,
Sunday School teacher, Bible School, and
the Kitchen
Clackers. She was a devoted and faithful
member of Esther Sunday School Class for many years as well as a member
of The
Eastern Star. Mrs. Taylor worked for
Anderson’s Department Store in Hiawassee for 40 years and volunteered
every
year at the Georgia Mountain Fair since its beginning.
She was preceded in death by her husband, ray
Taylor; sisters, Mae Dills, Vera grant and Margie Elrod; and brothers,
Bill
Dills and Jack Nations.
Survivors
include son & daughter-in-law, Terry and Mary Taylor of Hiawassee;
daughter
& son-in-law, Cheryl and Alvin Gibson of Gainesville;
granddaughters Renee
Kimsey and her husband, Thomas; Melanie Gibson, Anna Rybka, and Katie
Mashburn
and her husband, Matthew. Great
grandchildren are Dillon and Taylor Kimsey.
Sisters are Margaret Dockery of Murphy, NC and Barbara Nell
Cantrell of
Helen, GA. Brothers Frank Dills and his
wife, Geneva, of Hiawassee and John Nations and his wife, Annetta of
Buford,
also survive. Sister-in-laws include Joyce
Taylor of Chattanooga, TN and Helen Taylor of Atlanta.
Brothers-in-law are Rex Taylor and his wife,
Carolyn of Macon, and Hugh Elrod of Helen.
Many nieces, nephews and cousins survive.
Funeral
services were held Monday, October 13, 2008 at 1:00 PM from McConnell memorial with Dr.
Rudy Patton officiating. Music was
provided by Patsy Daniel. Interment was
in Osborne Cemetery. Serving as
pallbearers were, Jerry Nichols, Jeff Waldrop, Jimmy Taff, Barney
Pedigo, Hugh
Elrod and Dennis Miles.

Mr. Wade
Barrett, age 90 of Hiawassee, GA, passed away Wednesday, October 8,
2008 at
Chatuge Regional Nursing Home.
Mr. Barrett
was born Saturday, October 27, 1917in Towns County, GA to the late Oren
Barrett
and the late Ora Burch Barrett. He was a
member of Union Hill
Methodist Church and was preceded in death by grandson,
Danny
Moody, Jr., great grandson, Hayden Marcus Barrett, sisters, Minnie Sims
and
Ruth Barrett and brothers, Clarence and Boyd Barrett.
Survivors
include: wife, Velza Kirby Barrett of Hiawassee, GA, daughter &
son-in-law,
Jimmie Nell and Jim Owenby of Hiawassee, GA, son & daughter-in-law,

and Cathy Barrett of Hiawassee, GA, son & daughter-in-law, Vester

Martha Barrett of Hiawassee, GA, son & daughter-in-law, Roger and
Darlene
Barrett of Greenville, SC, daughter & son-in-law, Mirle and Dale

Hiawassee, GA, daughter & son-in-law, Shelia and Pete Kimsey of
Hiawassee,
GA, sister, Maudie Moss of Clarksville, GA, 14 grandchildren, 26 great
grandchildren 2 great great granddaughters, several nieces and nephews.

services were held Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. from the

Funeral Home with Rev. Harley Hunter officiating. Music
was provided by Philadelphia
quartet. Interment was in Burch

Mrs.
Fannie Bell Erwin, age 88 of Hiawassee, GA (Formerly of Young Harris,
GA)
passed away on Thursday, October 09, 2008 following a period of
declining
health. She was born to the late George
and Lovena (Chastain) McClure on September 19, 1920 in Towns County, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr.
Joseph Erwin in 1995. She is survived by
her daughters, Joan Young, of Gainesville, GA; Betty Thomas, of young
Harris,
GA; Joeta Youngblood, of Jasper, GA; son, Charles Erwin, of Young
Harris, GA;
sister, Mary Brown, of Blairsville, GA: seven grandchildren, three
great
grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services were held on Sunday, October 12, 2008 at
2:00 PM from Old Union Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Hogsed and Rev.
Jimmy
Rogers officiating. Pallbearers were:
Brandon Young, Matt Youngblood, Joseph Thomas, Seth Youngblood and
Jimmy
Krokonko. Serving as honorary
pallbearers were Sonny Thomas, Jeff Krokonko and Ben Krokonko. Interment was in Old Union Baptist Church
