david edward streetman

 

Mr. David Edward Streetman, age 61, of Hiawassee, GA, passed away FRIDAY, October 5, 2007 at North East Georgia Medical Center.  Mr. Streetman was born Thursday, November 15, 1945 in Hillsborough County, FL to the late Leon and Laura Locklear Streetman.  He moved here five years ago form Plant City, FL.  Mr. Streetman attended North Mt. Zion Church of God.

Survivors include: wife, Glenda Streetman of Hiawassee, GA; daughter, Angela Farley of Plant City, FL; daughter, Chrisey McClellan of Hiawassee, GA; brothers, Calvin Streetman of Hiawassee, GA, Malcolm Streetman of Blue Ridge, GA, Allen Streetman of Plant City, FL; sister, Frances Rowell of Plant City, FL; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the North Mt. Zion Church of God with the rev. Raburne Wilson officiating.  Music was provided by Ryan Wilson.  Pallbearers were Ed Butler, Gene Rogers, Willie Smith, Loy Thomas, Rex Patterson and Grady Matheson.  Interment was in North Mt. Zion Church of God Cemetery.

ethel cheeks

 

Mrs. Ethel Cheeks, age 86, of Hiawassee, GA, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2007 at Chatuge Regional Nursing Home in Hiawassee.  Ethel was born Tuesday, November 30, 1920 in Towns County, GA to the late Bill and Lydia Edwards Ferguson.  She was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Young Harris, GA.  Ethel had lived at Branan Lodge in Blairsville for 23 years prior to moving to Chatuge Regional Nursing Home.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlie Cheeks in 1981.

Survivors include: son & daughter-in-law, Cecil and Susan Cheeks of Hiawassee, GA; daughter, Bobbie Nicholson of Doraville, GA; daughter & son-in-law, Sue and Ray Potts of Blairsville; son, Benny Cheeks of Cornelia, GA; daughter & son-in-law, Martha and Elliott Oakes of Prattsville, NY; brothers, Roy Ferguson of Adairsville, GA; and Floyd Ferguson of Cumming, GA; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday October 16, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Potts and Rev. David Timmer officiating.  Music was provided by Edward and Shirley Mashburn.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Ray Potts, Bonnell Thomas, David Ferguson, Herman Cheek, Horace Cheek, and Jerry Cheek.  Interment followed in Woods Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family received friends at the funeral home from 6 until 9 p.m. Monday evening.

melissa lynne shelton

 

Melissa Lynne Shelton, age 45 of Hiawassee, GA, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2007.  Melissa was born Friday, September 14, 1962 in Muscogee County, GA.  She was a member of new martins Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include: mother, Jo Ann Dills; father, William Chastain, Sr.; son, William Shelton; daughter, India Shelton; sisters, Melinda Kelley and Melanie Chastain; brothers, William Chastain, Jr. and Shannon Garrison all of Hiawassee, GA; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 13, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the rev. Anthony Dye and Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating.  Interment was in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were: Justin Eller, Bruce Berrong, Josh Berrong, Mike Grier, Cody Shelton and Jonathan Revis.

reba bradley gibson

 

Reba Bradley Gibson, age 75 of Hiawassee, GA passed away Sunday, October 7, 2007 at her residence.  Mrs. Gibson was a native of Clay County, NC.  She was the daughter of the late James Arthur and Ina Maney Bradley.  Reba was a homemaker.  She enjoyed embroidery, crocheting and loved cooking.  She was a member of Tusquittee Church of God.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Pearl Gibson who died in 1995; a son, Virgil Gibson; two brothers, Kenneth Dee Bradley and David Bradley and one sister, Lacy Stroud.

She is survived by five daughters, Roberta Ledford and her husband Curtis of Hayesville, NC, Jo Ann Davis and her husband Terry of Hiawassee, GA, Betty Lou Burch and her husband Johnny of Hiawassee, GA, Marie Ashe and her husband Gary of Clayton, GA and Judy Lynn Gibson of Hayesville NC; two sisters, Thelma Loftis and Della Mae Patterson both of Hayesville, NC: eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at the Frank Rose Sr. memorial Chapel in Hayesville, NC with Rev. Curtis Ledford and Bishop Raburne Wilson officiating.  Music was provided by Persimmon Church of God, Gary Taylor and Jim Nixon.  Burial was in the Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery in Hayesville, NC.  Pallbearers were grandsons: Terry Ledford, Tony Ledford, Stacy Moss, Derek Burch, Eugene Ashe, John Eller and Matthew Eller.  The family received friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at the Frank Rose Sr. Memorial Chapel in Hayesville, NC.  You may send tributes to the Gibson family at www.mem.com.
