dorothy puett gibson

Mrs. Dorothy Puett Gibson, age 73, of Young Harris, GA, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2003 at her home.

Mrs. Gibson was born February 7, 1930 in Towns Co., GA, a daughter of the late James Bent and Beulah (Townsend) Puett.  She had lived in Akron, Ohio and Westland, MO for 30 years but moved back to Towns County 20 years ago.  Mrs. Gibson was a member of Old Brasstown Baptist Church and a member of Bald Mountain Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.  She was a devoted wife and mother.

Survivors include her husband, Ernest Gibson of Young Harris, GA; daughter, Carol Ann Ping of Taylor, MI; son, Richard Gibson of TN; sisters, June Shook of Young Harris, GA and Nora Matulavich of Akron, OH; grandchildren, Laura Leshinski, Ronda Ping, Aaron Gibson and Ashley Gibson; great-grandchildren, Nicole Leshinski, Danielle Leshinski and Shawn Smith.  Many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm Sunday, October 19, 2003 at Old Brasstown Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Stiles officiating.  Music was by the Troy Phillips Family and Maxine Hughes and Wanda Black.  Pallbearers were Richard Gibson, Ronnie Shook, Joe Norton, Cecil Dye, Lonnie Marcus, Ricky Lancaster and James Crisp.  Honorary Pallbearers were Clinton Moore and members of the Order of Easter Star.  Interment was in the Church Cemetery. 

Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee, GA was in charge of arrangements.
