Mrs.
Adeline Zizich, age 89, of Hiawassee Estates Drive Hiawassee, GA,
passed away on
Friday, Oct. 16, 2009 at her home. Mrs.
Zizich was born on Sept. 8, 1920 in Crawford County Kansas, the
daughter of the
late John Pepper and the late Erma Mutton Pepper. She
was preceded in death by her husband,
Anton P. Zizich in 1993.
Surviving Mrs.
Zizich are two sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Susie Zizich of
Bolingbrook,
IL, Dan and Diane Zizich of Hayesville, NC, three grandchildren, four
great
grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and
friends also
survive.
Private
services are planned at a later date. In
lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be
made to
the American Cancer Society in memory of Mrs. Zizich.

Latrece
Ennis Griffin, 83, passed quietly at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 10,
2009 at
the Chatuge Regional hospital in Hiawassee, GA.
Mrs.
Griffin was born March 11, 1926 in Dekalb County, GA,
the daughter of Ellen Margaret Howington, and William Porter Ennis,
Jr., of
Atlanta, GA. She graduated from North
Fulton High, the class of 1945, later working as a bookkeeper at
White’s
Corporation in Atlanta.
On
September 13, 1947 she married Fletcher W. “Buddy”
Griffin at the 2nd Ponce De Leon Baptist church in Buckhead in Atlanta,
GA.
Latrece
spent her adult years in both Sandy Springs, GA, and
Buckhead, Atlanta. In her later life,
her love of the mountains drew her to the Blue Ridge Smoky Mountains.
Latrece’s
deep love of genealogy brought her many lifetime
friends.
Her
appreciation for art, poetry, music, gardening, and
antiques, as well as her innate loyalty to family, were hallmarks of
her
life. Her paternal family had
established the Griffith School of Music, later providing the original
members
of the Atlanta symphony.
Mrs.
Griffin was a member of the DAR and The Atlanta
Historical Society.
She
actively participated in the Hall County Genealogical
Society, as well as the local Georgia Genealogical Society of Savannah. She researched countless genealogies for
others throughout the South. She was a
member of the Garden Hills Garden club of Atlanta, the MT. Vernon Woods
Neighborhood Association of sandy Springs, and also an avid bridge
player.
Her
petite frame of 5’2” was belied by her incredible
strength of character, and abiding compassion for others.
She
leaves twin daughters, Gail G. Finnegan and Gloria G.
Godwin, of Columbus, GA, and two sons, Fletcher W. Griffin III, of
Hiawassee,
and William Jeffrey Griffin, of Franklin, NC; 10 grandchildren and 8
great
grandchildren.
Latrece
considered motherhood her highest calling. No
wonder that her family grieves deeply
their loss of her presence, charm, and delightful humor.
Memorial
services will be held at 11 a.m., October 29, 2009
at Crestlawn Cemetery in Atlanta, GA.
Contributions may be sent tot eh Atlanta Historical Society in
lieu of
flowers.
