anthony keith (a.k.) mcfalls

 

            Mr. Anthony Keith (better known as A.K.) McFalls of Flea Mtn. Rd., Murphy, NC, formerly of Hiawassee, passed away on Saturday November 7, 2009 at his home following an extended illness.  Mr. McFalls was born on April 12, 1956 in Towns County, the son of C.B. (Sig) McFalls and the late Louise Gibson McFalls.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, L.C. McFalls in 1986 and John David McFalls in 1998 and by his mother, Louise Gibson McFalls in 1992.  Mr. McFalls was of the Baptist faith. 

            Surviving Mr. McFalls are his loving companion, Sandra Lea Meade of Murphy, father, C.B. (Sig) McFalls of Hiawassee, three sisters and one brother-in-law, Annie and Larry Brown of Clarksville, Leila McFalls of Hiawassee, Mary Garrett of Hiawassee, one brother, Jeffery McFalls of Jackson, GA, several cousins, aunts, uncles, many other relatives and friends also survive.

            A memorial service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Home Health and Hospice in memory of Mr. McFalls.

maureen patricia connolly

 

            Mrs. Maureen Patricia Connolly, age 72, of Meadow Rd., Young Harris, passed away on Monday, Nov. 2, 2009 at her home.  Mrs. Connolly was born on July 27, 1947 in London, England the daughter of the late Frederick Jones and the late May Robbins.  As a child, her family sought refuge in a subway during the London Blitz bombings of World War II.  She moved to the United States in 1975, residing in Florida before moving to Towns County fourteen years ago.  Mrs. Connolly was a member of the Veterans of Foreign wars.  She was a loving stepmother, sister and wife. Her husband of thirty-four years, William Connolly found the love of his life in Maureen.  She was of the Presbyterian faith. 

            Surviving Mrs. Connolly are her husband, William Connolly of Young Harris, her brother and sister-in-law Brian and Etty Jones of England, her sister, Ivy Mulford of England, and her stepchildren, Pamela Amodo of CA, John Joseph Connolly of CT, William Carter Connolly of CT, Sean Patrick Connolly of CT, and seven step-grandchildren.  Many other relatives and friends also survive.

            No services are planned at this time.  In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family requests that memorials be made to the Humane Society in memory of Mrs. Connolly.

robert phillips

 

            Robert Phillips, age 82, of Young Harris, GA, passed away November 7, 2009 at Chatuge Regional Hospital in Hiawassee, Georgia.  Robert was born on May 28, 1927 in Union County, GA, to the late Emory and Flossie Phillips.  He was a member of Many Forks Baptist Church and a WWII Army Veteran.  Robert was preceded in death by brother, Richard Phillips, sisters, Elenore Phillips and Barbara Fry. 

Survivors include: wife, Pearl Phillips of the home, daughter, Carrie Phillips of Hiawassee, GA, daughter & son-in-law, Sharon & Vaughn Elliott of Murphy, NC, son, Alvin Phillips of Blairsville, GA, brothers, Roy Phillips of Blairsville, GA and Ronald Phillips of Young Harris, GA, sisters, Ruth Queen of Hoschston, GA and Wanda Crisp of Murphy, NC, granddaughters, Winter Elliott, Ashley Mull and Kayla Phillips, grandson, Vaughn Michael Elliott, great granddaughter, Kamryn Ashley Mull and several nieces and nephews. 

            Funeral services were held Sunday, November 8, 2009 at 2:00 PM from Many Forks Baptist Church with Rev. R.L. Martin officiating.  Music was provided by Troy Phillips.  Burial was in many forks Baptist Church Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were, Roger Phillips, Junior Phillips, Brandon Hogsed, John Gibson, Jimmy Chastain and David Crisp.
