hugh gerhart, jr.

 

Mr. Hugh Gerhart, Jr., age 73, of Young Harris, GA, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at Northeast Georgia medical Center.  Mr. Gerhart was born Wednesday, October 10, 1934 in Cuyahoga County, OH to the late Hugh Matthew Gerhart, Sr. and the late Henrietta Schmall Gerhart.  He was a member of McConnell Memorial Baptist Church and an U.s. Air Force Veteran.  Hugh and Phyllis were owners of R.F. Truesdell Trucking Company in Florida and Georgia and were also owners of Epic Laser Car wash in Young Harris, GA.

Survivors include: wife, Phyllis Gerhart of Young Harris, GA; daughter, Beth Miller of young Harris, GA; daughter & son-in-law, Gretchen and Keith Ellis of Acworth, GA; son, Hugh M. Gerhart, III, MD; grandchildren, Jordan and Jamie Ellis, Justin and Phillip Miller; sister, Marilyn McKee of West Lake, OH.

Memorial services were held Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 4 p.m. from McConnell Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. Rudy Patton officiating.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to the America Heart Association or American Kidney Foundation.

jeffery ray ingram

 

Mr. Jeffery Ray Ingram, age 39, of Ingram Rd., Young Harris passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2007 in the Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.  Mr. Ingram was born on October 31, 1968 in Towns County, the son of Edith Zimmerman Ingram and the late J.M. Ingram, Jr.  He was a native and lifelong resident of Towns County.  He was preceded in death by his father, J.M. Ingram and his step father, Rev. Willis Garrett.  Mr. Ingram attended Gum Log Baptist Church.

Surviving Mr. Ingram are his mother, Edith Garrett of young Harris; one brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Sherry Ingram of Young Harris; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Teresa and Donny Gibson of Blairsville, Shirley and Johnny smith of Blairsville, Shelia Owens of Brasstown, NC; two step-brothers and sisters-in-law, Alvin and Liz Garrett of Blairsville, Larry and Bonnie Garrett of Blairsville; three step-sisters and two brothers-in-law, Ila Mae and Dorsey Dockery of Blairsville, rose and Tim Shell of Cartersville, GA, Arlene Garrett of Blairsville; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, November 8, 2007 at 11 a.m. from many Forks Baptist Church with the Rev. R.L. martin and Rev. Kenny Beavers officiating.  Special music was presented by Rev. R.L. Martin, Rev. Hubert and Betty Legg.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Mitchell Ingram, Brandon Smith, Shawn Owens, Marshall Gibson, Larry Garrett and Alton Garrett.  Interment followed in the Many Forks Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family met with friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-9 p.m.

jack key olvier

 

Mr. Jack Key Oliver, Jr., age 48, of Hiawassee, GA, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2007 at his residence. Key was born Monday, April 20, 1959 in Muscogee County, GA.  He had lived in Tucker, GA before moving to Hiawassee four years ago and was of the Methodist faith.  He was loved by all in his community.

Survivors include: parents, Jack and Doris Oliver, Sr. of Hiawassee, GA, sister and brother-in-law, Catherine and Anthony Poss of Jasper, GA, nephews, Patrick and Phillip Poss of jasper, GA

Funeral services were held Monday, November 12, 2007 at 4 p.m. from the Cochran Funeral Home with rev. George Clark officiating.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to Regency Hospice, PO Box 494, Hiawassee, GA 30546.

julian b. kirkland

 

Julian B. Kirkland, born in Newville, AL on August 20, 1920, deceased in Hiawassee, GA on November 10th, 2007, Julian left rural Alabama at sixteen years old moving to tamp and marrying his wife of 67 years, Ruby Fay Turner.  His first job in Tampa was as a bellhop at Tampa Terrace Hotel.  Julian served in World War II as a Sargeant in the 42nd Quartermaster War Dog Platoon training and handling dogs to find land mines.  He was in France, Germany, and Belgium.  After the war he was a fuel oil jobber for H.H. Williams Oil Company and finished his working career as an insurance agent with independent Life and accident Insurance Company.

He was active in Palm Avenue Baptist and Palma Ceia Baptist Churches in Tampa and then at Crestview Baptist Church in Lakeland.  At Crestview Baptist, Julian served as a deacon and chairman of the building committee.  He was a lifelong Baptist.  He was a 32nd degree mason and Shriner in Tampa.  The last two years of his life were spent enjoying family, the beautiful scenery in Hiawassee, GA and Atlanta Braves games on TV.  Two recent highlights in his life were a visit by a busload of friends from Crestview Baptist Church and a VFW ceremony for him due to his service in the war.

He is survived by wife Ruby Kirkland of Hiawassee, GA; sister, Jean Hattaway of Hiawassee, GA; brother Don Kirkland of Sumter County, FL; daughter Donna Viduna and son-in-law, Rob Viduna of Hiawassee, GA; son Barclay Kirkland and daughter-in-law Margaret Kirkland of Bradenton, FL, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  He will be greatly missed b family and friends.

There will be a service honoring Julian Kirkland’s life at Crestview Baptist Church, 6949 Old Polk City Road, Lakeland, FL 33809 on Thursday, November 15 at 10:30 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crestview Baptist Church Building Fund.
